Wow, it's been quite a while since I've used this topic.
Just recently, I got into a skirmish with some idiot on DeviantART who's an apologist of
Paper Mario: Sticker Star, as well as a
MLP fanbrat. It all started with a
conversation I was having with someone else (from nearly a year ago) about the state of the
Paper Mario series and the Mario RPGs in general, which then prompted the
douche in question to reply with some bullshit strawman argument, accusing me of being a nostalgia purist and a
Thousand-Year Door fanboy. Then, before I had a chance to respond to him, he preemptively blocks me. Yeah, I'm sure you could already tell what a
true man of courage and bravery
he must be. Honestly, if it weren't for the fact that I already had a second account, I wouldn't have even bothered wasting my time on such a coward.
So then, I logged onto my other account and responded to him, telling him exactly what was wrong with his argument (things which blatantly contradicted his "nostalgia" claim). Afterwards, he decided to PM me. Ironically enough, he actually started to seem a little bit more reasonable. Then, at some point during the conversation, I asked if there was any chance my regular account could be unblocked. He didn't, of course, and said that he would only do so if I removed the anti-
MLP stamps I had in my page. I refused, but then I clarified, in the most polite way possible, that it wasn't an attack on
all fans of the show; it was only for the fanbrats who act as if disliking it is some sort of unspeakable crime (such as those who claim that it's "sexist" to do so). A short while later, he began to show his true colors: An immature crybaby who's unable to handle dissenting opinions of any kind, regardless of how reasonable or polite people are about them. It was from that point onward that I saw that there was absolutely
no reasoning with that dumbass, so I decided to wash my hands of him, telling him that he's free to go ahead and block the other account I was using, as well.
In his final response, he not only threw a tantrum about my
Sticker Star and
MLP opinions, but also about my views on
Sonic Colors and
Generations (both of which I consider to be extremely overrated), and proceeded to treat his own opinions like solid fact, and pretty much implied that mine were wrong solely because of them being the opposite of his own. The irony of him accusing me of being a fanboy, is that he literally gets all pissy over the fact that someone dared to say anything about
PM:SS or
MLP that's even the slightest bit negative, and then goes out of his way to start shit over it. Last time I checked, that was the
textbook definition of fanboyism.
He also says that I and others within the fanbase don't give legitimate criticisms of
Sticker Star, repeatedly saying that no one ever judges that game without comparing it to
TTYD, and has said that criticizing the flawed battle system somehow doesn't count as a valid critique. Yeah, last time I checked, that was an essential part of the gameplay, so of
course it matters. Besides, what the hell did he expect?
SS was advertised as a sequel to the first three games, and if something doesn't meet the expectations set by its predecessors, you're damn right people are going to have something to say about it. Another bit of irony about this, is that he didn't make even
one valid point about
TTYD. The only reason he's given, aside from blaming the fans, is some drivel about it somehow being "too hard to block", despite the fact that it's executed
exactly the same way as it is in his precious
Sticker Star.
So, not only is he a butthurt fanboy and an utter coward who clearly can't take what he can dish out, but is a fucking hypocrite on top of the fact. Honestly, it's
shocking how this guy is only a mere
six years younger than I am. I'm pretty sure I wasn't
anything like
that moron at the age of twenty-four, nor at any other point since I've started using the internet (in which I was obviously
much younger). Seriously, it's almost as if that guy was a literal
caricature of a fanboy.
