...sounds like missingno
it's not quite a pkmn but can be captured, trained, and battled with like one
but it also bugs up the save file and gives you 128 of the 6th item in the bag

and it seems that in a way, because 20th anniv and such, that GF may somehow be canonizing missingno, or at least a class of lifeforms reminiscent of it
