Danyel heard Dusk’s scream but it sounded like he was above her somewhere now. There was also this odd tapping of steel so she screamed out hoping Dusk was up there and going to dig her out when sunlight burst in at the sound of someone’s painful yell as the stone just above her moved surprisingly. She got up surprised at having sustained minimal injuries except a few cuts and bruises.
As she looked around at the devastation she spotted Dusk lying atop of the rubble. He was out and safe, injured but safe she though to herself. It was then the question dawned on her. Who moved the stone letting her out of that pocket in the rubble? Her eyes drifted down to her left on the ground and she gasped in horror at the site of her fiancée Fox severely injured breathing heavily on the ground. How in the hell could he have moved that stone in his condition? It must have taken everything he had left to do it Danyel thought. She dropped to her knees beside him tears rolling down her cheeks. Fox opened his good eye halfway and smiled at her, then stared into the horizon and choked out two words “H-helps….c-coming.” Danyel could tell Fox was glad she and Dusk were alive and safe but she knew his injuries were worse than she first thought. Then came a familiar sound in the air. It sounded like a helicopter no, there was definitely more than one and they weren’t small ones either. “Hurry up!” Danyel whispered under her breath impatiently.
Her words were answered as the helicopters were rather fast and already starting to land kicking up sand ash and dirt from their massive propeller blades. They had the company logo on them and the first one down was a medi-chopper as they nicknamed it.
Danyel remembered everything that happened but dismissed it all from her mind for now and started waving her arms as teams of medics with gurneys and med kits rushed out to help as well as search for the injured and the dead. A team immediately began heading towards her and Fox while another team headed for Dusk. When she looked down again at Fox she realized he had passed out! “Fox...!” Danyel shouted “Wake up…..please wake up!” she shouted louder more tears rolling down her cheeks as she was suddenly lifted up and moved aside by a member of the medic team she flagged over as the rest checked Fox’s vitals preparing to move him with the gurney. She slowly began to calm down as she realized who had moved her away from her beloved and was now inspecting her injuries. It was a female medic and she moved with incredible speed and efficiency as she bandaged Danyel’s arms. “Don’t worry, we’ll do our best to make sure he lives.” The medic said as she finished with Danyel’s arms. Upon hearing that Danyel let out a sigh of relief and began her walk to the medi-chopper along side the medic. “You have a concussion but among that a lot of cuts and bruises but all of that will heal with some rest.” The medic said as she departed leaving Danyel on the medi-chopper ramp to go search for any other survivors. Danyel stepped inside and lay on an empty bed because she couldn’t see Fox due to him being quarantined and soon fell asleep. Dusk watched the medical team take Fox away as his team prepped and carried him to the same helicopter. He wanted to see what Fox’s status was and if Danyel knew anything about what happened but soon fell asleep from the drugs he was given for pain.
Fox was immediately quarantined in the massive helicopter due to the severity of his injuries. As they had rushed him into the helicopter earlier the medical team responsible for him had already began treating him beginning with an intravenous loaded with antibiotics, painkillers and something to put him under and keep him like that along with a breathing device so they could work on fixing him up. The medical team began with the internal bleeding and many broken or fractured bones. Afterwards it was time to close him up and sew up all his cuts and gashes. Fox had quite the number of surgeries scheduled during the time between their departure to another location. The helicopter closed its massive door as lights flashed signaling it was preparing to take off as it began to vibrate while the huge propeller blades picked up speed and lifted the helicopter off the ground. Dusk awoke in a hospital bed, a vase of lilies on the nightstand to his right. He still didn’t remember what they were all doing before whatever destroyed the building they were in and that’s when he noticed the stack of files and a letter on the stand to his left which luckily was on wheels and easily movable. His ribs were bandaged and his left arm in a cast being held by a sling. He carefully leant over and reached for the stand on wheels just hooking it with his fingers and rolled it right beside him. Dusk grabbed the letter first. It was from the ever mysterious head department of the company he Fox, and Danyel worked for.
