Kitsune Discussion / Re: The Travelling Fox in Japan

Incidentally, I have now created a fox shrine blog where I'm reposting all of these, and then also adding some new ones.

That blog also contains a Kitsune classification based on all the knowledge that I could gather, so feel free to check it out here:

Announcements / Happy New Year - 2024!
« Last post by Samui on Jan 01 2024, 01:54 PM »

And so, another new year begins! Last year was a bit of a roller coaster, so...as they say in Dynamite Headdy, "You've got another try." I did start and finish *two* Treasure games last year - Mischief Makers and Silhouette Mirage. And...uh...got a PB in Sonic 1 SMS Remake right on New Year's Eve. Oh! And I started a randomized Digimon World 3 playthrough!

My goals for this year are pretty much similar to last year's. I still would like to do a 20th anniversary special for this site (it still counts). Definitely gotta get my ass in gear with .para//Bound (the concept is almost 15 years old). And some other stuff. Like, more speedruns, more casual games, more Digimon. And stuff!

That's pretty much all I gotta say right now. Sooooo....Happy Noot Year! Here's hoping this one's productive! (Yeah, brain, I'm talkin' to you. Get your shit together!)

Announcements / Post-move Update
« Last post by Samui on Oct 15 2023, 03:07 PM »
So, I'm finally moved and pretty much settled in. I'd like to get back to streaming, but there are a couple things that need to be done first. Right now, I'm using a Raspberry Pi as a wireless bridge until I can get Ethernet hooked up in the room I'm using for computer stuff. I've ordered the things that I need to accomplish that, and they should all be here by Tuesday. Did a bit of a trial run with the longest cable I had on hand (staging in preparation for the keystone jacks), and it was still too short, so I ordered a 100ft cable - which should be more than sufficient. After getting that hooked up, all that's left is the desk - which we've decided that I'll take the one that's already in the basement to save the hassle of disassembling it to get it downstairs. It's cool that my roommate has the same exact desk I have!

Another obstacle I have to get past? I came down with a cold or something. And every time I think it's going away, I'm back to coughing up organs I didn't even know I had. So...once that finally stops for real, I should be able to get back to streaming! The post-move stream with the evil games is still going to be a thing, I just need to figure out when.

Announcements / Moving....Soon
« Last post by Samui on Sep 12 2023, 05:56 PM »
I've been in the process of moving this past month. Haven't gotten it all figured out, but I gotta have everything moved to the ... "new" place (same as the place I lived over 10 years ago, actually) by the 30th. So the server will be down sometime soon (yeah, no date set in stone. great planning!), but will be back up once it's relocated.

Streams this month will be ... sporadic, at best. Honestly been stressing about moving and stuff, and it's hard to get into the right head space to do anything. And I still gotta get caught up on other things, which I can hopefully do after the move.

I'm accepting donations to help pay for gas money to get my stuff transferred over, as well as to keep me fed. Gonna be a lot of going back and forth, 26 miles. For every $12, I'll add an hour of Sonic Spinball, Titus the Fox, or I Wanna Be the Boshy to a post-move marathon stream. And it might be a streamiversary/belated birthday/whatever kinda stream on top of that. Because all of that will be long overdue.

Any and all donations are appreciated. https://ko-fi.com/icekitsune or https://paypal.me/kitsuria - whichever works for you, it all goes to the same place. If you got a request for any of those three games (actually 4, 8-bit Spinball is on the table), let me know!

Honestly, I just want this month, and this move, to be *done*. Birthday be damned.

Announcements / An update for the sake of updates
« Last post by Samui on Jul 27 2023, 04:26 PM »
Uh. So, yeah. February 25th was our 20th anniversary. I meant to do some stuff for that, but...uh....Real life and shit. Y'know?

I'm still planning on doing a special stream for the 20th anniversary of this community, and my 10th anniversary on Twitch. It's probably going to be after I move (yeah, I'm moving again). I haven't gotten that figured out yet. Hell, I was supposed to update the site's theme months ago. I'll get around to that, too.

What have I been doing lately? Well, aside from putzing around on the internet instead of doing what I've been falling behind on...I've started doing casual gaming streams - especially now that I've switched to Linux. It's another project on the pile - getting a good setup for speedrunning on Linux. That should hopefully not take long. But at least I'll be able to get my backlog down quite a bit now!

I've also started on adding RSS feeds from these forums to our Discord. Right now, it's just the Gaming, Pokemon, and Parabound News forums. But I'll be adding more soon.

"What about .para//Bound?", I hear the one person ask. I'm workin' on it. I swear!

There've been numerous reports that the physics in Superstars are exactly identical to the way they were in Mania. Along with side-by-side comparisons, The Taxman has also confirmed this.

Announcements / It's 2023 Now!
« Last post by Samui on Jan 01 2023, 06:16 AM »

So, another year has come and gone! I know it's been quiet here, but as far as my speedrunning goes, I've gotten three PB's on the leaderboards, one of them being a new run I've picked up (Sonic The Hedgehog Forever). I got the sub-20 minute time I've been grinding for in Sonic 2, and I'm working my way to reclaiming WR for the Tails in Sonic 1 romhack.

This year is a special year for this site, the end of February will mark its 20th anniversary. That's right, we've been around for 20 years, through a few name changes. While it has been quiet on the forums these days (much of the activity is now on the Discord server), it does mean a lot to me, at least. I do have things planned for here and on Discord in the near future.

For some reason, I forgot to post an announcement about the arcade being back. But it's back, thanks to Ruffle. Some games may or may not work fully yet, but for the most part everything works well!

I will be restructuring the forums a bit, and I'm considering adding RSS feeds to the Discord server so posts will be visible there, too.

As for .para//Bound, I'm almost done with the second town. I've got things set up to where I can do scripting from wherever. I still have to fix some of the sprites that got messed up by GIMP. And I will be posting updates on this more often. I know it's been a few years since I posted anything in the .para//Bound board.

And I'm planning on doing more than speedruns on my streams. I've cleared 3 games from my Steam backlog this past year, and I'm currently working on Recettear. I also plan on running Tanglewood more often. Still working on the schedule for that, but I feel like alternating Fridays for casual games and Tanglewood would work out well.

That's pretty much it for now! Here's to a (hopefully productive) and happy new year!
