Killing individuality makes a bigger profit.
And profit is what rules America.
Suburbia is what the corporate entities want. Easy to control, easy to understand. Easy to market and herd like the cattle the residents unknowingly are.
I'm still more paranoid about the 1984 syndrome (you know, big brother is watching and all that good stuff)
the corporations are watching what you buy, when you buy it and how often. They make up plans to maximize their profit from your "type" of people.
We are already being monitored. And with every year, we get less and less privacy from the soulless machines that exist only to make money.
It's pretty funny how little the governments in the world has to say in the matter.

As I said to my mother when she called the bailout plan socialism, the corporations already own the government, so of course they get their way.
