Hmm, is it me, or have I been the main one using the ranting forum as of late? Anyway, to get to the point, this rant is about a few things that have been pissing me off lately, regarding the Sonic Retro forum and the Sonic fanbase as a whole. Now, here we go:
There was some topic over there that was titled "Terrible Sonic Jokes" (or something along the lines of that), and I posted a certain scene from Sonic Generations, which was supposedly a "joke" (which I found to be a completely lame and unfunny one). Then, not very long afterwards, I had a few people making a huge issue out of that, and were constantly on my back about it. I then retorted that I don't know how the same forum full of people who've complained about far pettier matters (such as Sonic having green eyes) could even be in the position to criticize me for something like this. Then, the next thing you know it, I found myself with a two-day suspension, despite not doing anything wrong. I just love how people are allowed to complain until they're blue in the face about Sonic's eye colors, how long his legs and quills are, etc. without it being given a second glance, and yet I shouldn't have anything to say about a scene that was blatant trolling on the writers' part? Give me a break. What a bunch of hypocrites.
Also, another thing that's been getting on my nerves are Sonic CD Japanese/European track fanboys/purists. I. CAN. NOT. STAND. THEM. As a matter of fact, they're just as bad as (or possibly even worst than) classic fanboys. In addition to treating that overrated soundtrack like the Second Coming of Jesus and slamming the American track for absurd reasons, they have the nerve to be elitist and self-righteous about it, acting as if their opinions are solid fact. Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that the Jap/Eur soundtrack is terrible or anything. I happen to think the songs themselves are fine for the most part, but at the same time, it's nowhere near as flawless as all the fanboys make it out to be. In short, it's not the soundtrack that's bad. It's the fanbase that makes it unappealing.

No, I'm talking about the Time Eater cutscene, where Classic Robotnik (for some stupid reason) claimed that "nobody calls [him] THAT anymore" after Classic Tails referred to him as "Dr. Robotnik", followed by the "Dr. Eggman of the Past" crap right afterwards. Just keep in mind, I'm far from being a classic fanboy (since I happen to enjoy both classic and modern titles), but at the same time, I've always had a passionate hatred for the "Dr. Eggman" name, because I thought (and still think) it's one of the worst names to ever be thought of for a villain. I couldn't care less if it was always his name in Japan. Not only did it seem like they were trolling the classic fanbase with those lines, but it made no sense.
In Sonic Adventure, Robotnik (as his "Modern" self) got offended after Sonic referred to him as "Eggman", and then corrected him, saying that his name was Dr. Robotnik. In Sonic Chronicles (again, as his "Modern" self), he once again referred to himself as "Doctor Robotnik", so what sense did it make for his Classic self to be saying that no one calls him that anymore? Yeah, I know what you may be thinking... This is a minor thing to complain about, and I'll gladly admit that it is, but it still irked me anyway. Not just because of my bias against the "Eggman" name, but for continuity-related reasons, as well. Even so, that was nothing to suspend me over, since I was completely on topic, and people have complained about far, far pettier things.

OPINIONS DAMMIT, stop forcing yours on others, maybe you all would be a bit more acceptable to be around. you have every right in the universe to go infantile over green eyes and differing soundtracks, but you don't have to be at each other's throats over it
i personally have nothing on the robotnik/eggman thing, robotnik most likely seems to intentionally make fun of himself alongside sonic at least as of SA2(B), but be thankful that peons aren't so dim that they're going around saying "maria eggman" or "gerald eggman"

I haven't given a crap about the Sonic Community in over 7 years. But from the sounds of your post, it appears the community is still terrible.
