Title: heathens not allowed
Post by: Samui on Jan 23 2010, 07:24 PM
So, this morning, I was on the phone with the landlord. He wanted to invite me to church, to read the bible, and to accept Jesus as my savior in exchange for borrowing a bike to look for work. I said "no". My reason is very simple. The conditions provided were unreasonable. Okay, looking for work every day is fine. But, reading the bible? No. I'm not religious. I'm not a Christian. I was raised as such (well, Catholic), and I turned away, went on my own path. I never want to read the bible again. This is now ...TRYING... to bite me in the ass.

A couple hours ago, I was informed that the landlord wanted me to either have a job or change my heart within this coming week, or else I will be kicked out. Now, I already have a Plan B - I've had this Plan B for a while. In fact, it was my Plan A until I had an interview with Burger King the other day. But this is not right. If there was a contract, or some kind of legal obligation for him to let me live here, I could actually sue. So, it's bad for me, but good for them. Though it is a good thing there is no contract, because that means I don't have to do squat for them. I'm already working on this "Plan B" right now.

I'm sort of pissed off about this situation. But you know what...It's kind of amusing. In fact, I only have this to say to the landlord:

this is along the lines of both religious discrimination and an offense against fair housing rights, since he threatens to kick you out if you don't go with his religion and/or get a job, by next week

I say bite his ass before he bites yours, because likely the time to do so is prime

He is not obliged to follow the whole equal housing opportunity deal. But I fully intend to bail when I get the chance. I'm working on it.

Just because you don't have a contract doesn't mean he can kick you out for not being a christian.

Just for the record.

An interesting read. Not sure I'd want to go through all the red tape, though. But it gives me a great idea for revenge.

Not sure what red tape your talking about, you just need to report him in violation of the fair housing act.

I see...But there is no real point in doing that.

Actually, fuck it. I did report him.

Also, another thing. He offered to hire me for pay under the same conditions. Naturally, this pay would go towards rent. Maybe I should get the Department of Labor on him too.
