Its good when people speak without thinking because they often say what's true but dont want to admit, and I think it's alwais better. And btw I also had a topic about reveres-speech here somewhere with a link to a site witch prooved that if you play a sentence someone says on reverse you will hear in the same language what that person was actually thinking... witch prooves that you actually don't really think too much when you speak (you think more about the surface of message you're saying and influence it thow)

I suppose what we think about (or usually think about to late) is what will happen if we say what we say, will it hurt a persons feelings so on.

Well yeah... and btw since you said about it, I also believe it's best to say the truth even if it will hurt a person's feelings. I see happiness through lie way more cruel then just saying the truth once and hurting someone.

This is true, but i ask you what is the cost of lying?
Your roots are strong. But only by constantly reaching for the sun, will you grow above the rest of the forest.

The true mind can weather all the lies and illusions without being lost. The true heart can tough the poison of hatred without being harmed.

It is only when a mosquito lands on your testicles, that you realize violence doesnt solve all problems

Never lie, I see it as a bad thing. And I see lie as a "fake image" destroying the real thing. If its something good and you say something bad, it's pointless. If its something bad and you ie something good just to not hurt anyone, it's really really back because the happiness of that person does not stay on something permanent & stable. I can't beieve these days how much idiot parents tell their kids they're they're real parents when they're not, or other stuff like that but anywayz it's their buisness...
Never helps. And well, if you reall really have to lie once, even is u shouldn't, at least make sure that you will tell the truth sooner or later. It's "permanent" lies that I hate very much and am totally against...

The cost of lies can vary. Small lies like tricks just for fun are ok. And when you reassure someone in a dire situation, you say its going to be ok even if your not sure about it yourself. Those kinda of lies are fine in my opinon. Its ones that are there to hurt or cover up something are the bad ones. or lies that keep you going and going and going then at the end of it all there is is Disapointment

Exactly. Even if in worse situations it might seem that lying could fix things, in most cases it only brings it later and WORSE then if the truth would have been told directly in that moment. And if you do it for someone you care about and who cares about you, when he/she finds out it's worse because alongside the problem you lied for he'll also feel hurt because you lied to him. Think how the poor person would have to deal with 2 things then! If u are honest with your friends, they'll get over the truth, no matter witch one that is (the only exception I think would be if u killed someone thow because that would be too much but even that can be once fixed once)

[edit] I was writing before Sirus posted, I perfectly agree, joke lies and these are no problem thow I try to avoid these too but they aren't bad. Cover-up lies are the evil ones witch should never be said.
