it seems they changed the distance toward candy earnings
10km egg family+legendaries: 5km
5km egg family+starters+eevee family: 3km
2km egg family: 1km
seems they have the metagame in mind and changed things accordingly
on one hand it's easier to get candies for kanto starters and pikachu, in the other big metagame threats like snorlax, lapras and the dratini line will still need more work than the rest, but at least the buddy feature makes their candies more accessable

Pokémon GO is in the process of being updated to version 0.41.2 for Android and 1.11.2 for iOS devices. Below are some release notes and comments from our development team.
•Catch Bonus: Trainers can earn a catch bonus for a Pokémon type as they catch more of a specific type.
•Updated Gym Training: Trainers can now bring six Pokémon to battle at friendly Gyms. The CP of the Pokémon you are battling may be temporarily adjusted lower for your training session.
•Egg & Incubator Screens: These will periodically update the distance walked without the Trainer needing to close and reopen the screen.
•Fixed several audio issues.
•Decreased the evolution animation time.

wonder if the removal of pidgey and rattata from 2km eggs led to the decision to nerf candy gains down to +5 for 2km hatches, now that it indirectly makes starters/pikachu/fairies/geodude more likely hatches with only the bugs and spearow the only fodder-mon left

all it is was a patch to fix an issue with the hatching sequence i never had
stops can't be spinned on a full bag anymore
the zoom-in when accessing a stop/gym is much faster
pkmn in sightings can be tapped but just give "find these pokemon in the wild"

the new tracker seems to have reached my location
picking up things from the pokestop closest to my home
there's a water spawn near that stop so it might pick up dratini from over there
know this because i caught one around there the other day
edit : everyone west of the mississippi river should have it except AK/HI

my verdict is in - the tracker needs work
if there's at least one stop in view in the overworld, sightings is dropped from view, rendering me completely blind of anything that isn't within a certain radius around the stop(s)
also rather than tell you the exact location of the selected pkmn it's just the footprint symbol over the stop itself
it'd be an improvement if it was possible to toggle between sightings (stuff in the grass) and nearby (stuff around stops)
the tracker should be expanded upon to include wild pkmn around gyms

only starbucks i know of has no stop and is part of a fred meyer
it'd be great if it had its own stop though, fred meyer passes as its own safari zone as far as spawns go

There are three Starbucks I can get to, and there are stops within a block from them. Spawns are nothing too special, though.

the golden days of GPS drift incubation are numbered, gone are the days where my buddymon can "forage for candies outside" and eggs can hatch in my cozy room while its pouring outside like if kyogre got primal
sucks because i live in the PNW and that's basically the rainiest region in the country
