how bad is tpunch raichu over thunder
thunder
pwr:100
full bar
cooldown 4.3 sec
thunder punch
pwr:40
3 segment bar
cooldown 2.4 sec
- about 25 uses minimum of spark to get a full bar ready
-- spark : en.gain 4x25=100, total cumulative dmg = 175
-- tshock : en.gain 7x15=105, total cumulative dmg = 75
-- spark fills 1 segment of tpunch in 9 uses
-- tshock fills 1 segment of tpunch in 5 uses
- if tpunch were a little faster/had 45 pwr like ice punch (and fire punch should've followed suit), it might've been closer to thunder DPS wise
- 3 shots of tpunch is equivalent to 1 shot of solar/hyper beam (40x3=120), slightly beats 2 shots of tbolt (55x2=110) and 3 shots of discharge (35x3=105), in it's very own way (total comulative dmg using up all 3 shots of the whole bar) this makes tpunch the strongest electric charge move in the game
- by this logic twister AKA the bane of every unlucky gyarados' existence shouldn't be so garbage (25x5=125) but it just takes too long to throw that many
- if only we could fire off the whole bar's worth of energy of multi-bar moves with damage multiplied by power value per segment of bar charged over as one strike, then maybe they could be made worthwhile at perhaps the cost of a longer charge time per bar or something
-- it would add to the simplistic battle system as a high risk-high reward sort of thing and give some pokemon more edge, and maybe more niche sets like bulldoze arcanine could grow to popularity
-- that might break some things though, at least without a few tweaks, a few 3 bar charge moves would become disgustingly strong (dig becomes 70x3=210 making it the strongest move in the game, however it has the longest cooldown and the only capable pkmn able to have it are raticate and marowak with the rest being NFEs)
- should've put in volt tackle as a 120 full bar move exclusive to the pikachu line, because mascot privileges
- why do i give a shit about raichu anyway
-- anything over its little yellow rat brother, its infant form, and its peanut gallery of pretenders that grows with every generation
