Lucid Dreams

I first learned about lucid dreaming about a year ago, though I have never really been committed to testing it out until just recently. For those who may not know what a lucid dream is, it is when you take control of your dream simply by realizing you are asleep. It took me a while but I am finally getting the hang of it.  ^_^

My first lucid dream happened shortly after I had learned what it was. Though it took me a while to figure out what had trigered it. I had read that it would be easier to become lucid after you become familiar with your dreams. For a while I began to record them in as much detail possible in a small journal. I found that the more I recorded and the more time I devoted to sleep, the more often I would have these lucid dreams. I have had about seven in the last month. (that i can distinctly remember.) I would recommend that anyone interested in the subject should really look into it, because it is amazing. You can do anything in the dream world and it is worth the attention.

I will post more on this topic later. I plan to go to sleep now.

I've had a few myself although I never knew what to call them until now.  In the few I've had I ended up waking myself up unintentionally by attempting to control everything.  They were kinda odd in a sense that I knew I was asleep but I couldn't quite control everything that I wanted or I had to focus really hard on it, which woke me up.  At least they're fun while they last. ^_^

Yeah, they are. I have had ones where I just fall back into the flow of the dream & completely forget that I was dreaming.

dreams of this kind come to me every once in a while, they're like visits to a parallel universe to me...

its nearly impossible for me to have lucid dreams considering the fact that i almost never actually dream at all... when i do have a dream if it isn't crazy insane then i try to let the dream follow its natural course rather than exploring the dream world...

Screw light and darkness, I want a piece of both worlds.

If I could, I would choose to never go to sleep. I have realistic (not lucid) dreams every night, witch are almost always depressing and annoying and in the morning until I'm fully awake I feel really bad >.>
Anyway, I believe it has to be beautiful to have these dreams and to control them. I am trying to learn to astral project witch is probably just as nice as having controlled dreams only that you are in a real place there (though even something you imagine is actually real) but anyway I don't have any luck with getting anything to work myself. If you could post more here about how you do it, that would be really nice.

=/  I've known about lucid dreaming for probably a little over a year now, maybe close to two.  Unfortunately for the longest time now since I have been out of high school I maybe have a 1% - 10% chance of actually remembering even a little bit of a dream I had the night before.  It is almost like I don't dream most of the time, and can often be very frustrating since I like to dream =/

Also, since I discovered my interest in things that are furry (on a more mature level anyway) when I was 15, I have maybe had 2 - 3 fairly lengthy dreams involving fur stuff?  It is kind of disappointing.

In any case, the last dream I had was last night actually (surprise), and it was some kind of strange documentary on police vehicles and they were doing a bit on boats that were designed to look like normal civilian boats but were extremely fast O.o;;  It was like I was watching something on the Discovery channel or what not, complete with the narrator voice and random shots of scenery before getting to the point.  One interesting part was the narrator was talking about boats before getting to the point and the camera panned out to this one area of water (in the middle of a lake or so) with a RC boat listing to the side a bit (but not moving).

It was so funny because it was something I could so totally see in some show about police boats or something on discovery/history, or what not.

But back to lucid dreaming, the most lucid (barely lucid, but furry) dream I can think of was when I was spending some time at my dad's.  Bear in mind this was the most significant fur-related dream I ever had.  But in any case, I was my Umbreon fursona (quadruped) and wandering around a desolated Team Rocket base.  I went down these stairs and saw another Umbreon, a female with white fur and non-glowing black rings (actually caused me to make a character out of that design :p).  I stopped in front of her and said (without any control over it), "Mother, I need to ask you a favor..."

O.o;  At this time I was writing a lot of pokemon fanfiction, and my character's mother was not alive in the story, nor was she a white Umbreon O.o;

The female smiled and responded, "What is that, Darfix?"  (my character's name is the same as my username, weird xD)

And still out of my control my Umbreon fursona responded, "I need you to pretend to be my girlfriend..."

O_o;  WTF?  In the middle of a team rocket base?  Unique.

She smiled, agreed, nodded her head, and lead me out of "sight" of my dream and then my dad fell out of his chair upstairs and woke me up.

So though it wasn't lucid it was probably my most significant dream ever, and has left me scratching my head with many questions.

I dunno, if anyone had any opinions/thoughts on that or not?  O.o;

That certainly is significant. lol. Unfortunately, as obsessed as I am about remembering my dreams, I haven't really been able to keep track or really recall my dreams at all. This is just  over the last month or so. But I do remember last nights dream. I hope that I can keep that up, kuz it is much easier for me to become lucid when I can remember my dreams. Don't ask me why. Perhaps it is because I can remember the feelings had while dreaming, which can help me to remember them while I am asleep. That would make sense because it is much easier to remember feelings had just recently in comparison to months or even days previously.

I've heard there are a few ways to help lucid dreaming:

1. when I start lucid dreaming, I'm usually in a situation where I have time to stop and think "there is no way all this is real". Try not to think about lucid dreaming when you fall asleep, this will make it harder to sleep at all. Just relax as you usually would when you sleep.

2. Once you realise this is a dream, you are free to attempt to control it. But I would advise against saying anything that makes it obvious you know it is a dream. I have done this in the past and it has forced me to wake up.

3. If everything starts to go blurry, it is likely you are either waking up or losing control. Should this happen, It is said that looking down at you hands and counting to 10 works.

4. Be careful what you wish for, It may turn against you.

5. Oh, and apparently Spicy food makes your dreams more vivid. I'm not sure if this helps with lucidity though.

(almost all these tips were taken from a guild I'm in on gaiaonline :3)
