Vulpine Side Shrine 30/56 of Kuhouboutaki, and Vulpine Shrine #38 of Inariyama.

One of the bigger vulpine Side Shrines, and the biggest one in the eastern section. It was probably one of the growth poles of Komugen.

Once again there are more names, but they are hidden by the many small red Torii.

Konpira is the goddess of seafaring and safe travels. It is not usually attended by foxes, but this place makes a difference.

Incidentally, there are so many Shrines around here that I ended up photographing this one twice and only noticed it later when I used my pictures to log the Shrines.

Two foxes are well-integrated into this Shrine, and can only be seen from up close. Both of them are already old and worn.

Also note how once again the name on the small red Torii is written from right to left.

My 400th fox Shrine in Japan! I wish I could say it was something special, but with this many fox Shrines around, everything is starting to blur together in a big blotch of vulpinity. YOu can still take bets whether I'll be able to leave Inariyama before making it to 500.

Partly, this section is so crowded with fox Shrines that I can't even get a proper perspective anymore. Not that I'm complaining though.

A Shrine enshrining many Kami. That's probably why it's atended by four foxes instead of just two.

Another light sword Shrine. It also venerates two other Kami, but one of te two foxes sits in front of them, so I can't read their names from the photo in the present time, and I certainly am in no state that can be described as "sound of mind" at the time of my visit. More like "a triple overdose of foxes".

Vulpine Side Shrine 39/56 of Kuhouboutaki, and Vulpine Shrine #47 of Inariyama.

This is an unusual Shrine. At least two of its names end on 耶, which literally means "Question Mark". Maybe it used to be an old way of saying "small shrine" or something? Also, while I have a photo that clearly depicts the Kanji on the Ookami (and that one ends with 大神), those are written in such an... uhhh... artful style that they are impossible for me to figure out at this point in time.

Also it is here that a group of tourists from the encirceling path deems it fit to ask me about this place. They could not have picked a worse time, for I am in the deepest daze just then. First I don't even realize that someone is talking to me, and then I manage to bring forth a few words about Golden Fox Shrines and foxes being everywhere, but that's about it. To them I must seem drunk. And in a manner of speaking I am. Drunk on vulpinity.

Vulpine Side Shrine 40/56 of Kuhouboutaki, and Vulpine Shrine #48 of Inariyama.

Once again, the Kanji of the Ookami are written in such a way that makes deciphering them rather tricky. I manage to figure out two, have a good guess at the third one, but the forth one is beyond my capabilities.

Either way, a pair of foxes faithfully stand guard in this little Shrine in the northwesternmost corner of the eastern segment of Kuhouboutaki.

Vulpine Side Shrine 41/56 of Kuhouboutaki, and Vulpine Shrine #49 of Inariyama.

A broken vixen keeps faithful watch over this Shrine alongside her tod. Her dedication is to be admired.

The central name of this Shrine is written in Hiragana, and it does not amount to a word or two as gar as I can tell. It might just be that - a name.

Vulpine Side Shrine 44/56 of Kuhouboutaki, and Vulpine Shrine #52 of Inariyama.

This Shrine is located on the northern end of the central block of fox Shrines in the eastern section of this temple at the southern slope of the mountain in the west of Japan. BINGO!

Word of caution: I am guessing here about the "垣" in "石垣大神", since I can only make out the left half of that Kanji on my pictures. There's dozens of other Kanji it could be, but this is the most common one that would form a proper word in combination with "石", and I have already seen Ishigaki Jinja during my time in Japan. Might still be something different though.
