Yet another vulpine Shrine overlooking the city even closer to the ledge. The two big foxes watching over this one are already badly weathered.

Or should I count it as two? With these tiny Shrines it's always hard to decide. For now, I'll count it as one Shrine, since the two altars are behind a common Torii.

The second vulpine Side Shrine of Fussa Inari Jinja, overlooking the city. This one is located further away from the ledge, on the opposing hillside.

Once again I should stand before the conundrum of whether to count these two tiny Shrines right next to one another as two separate Shrines, or just as one. However, since they both share the same name, and since I've already counted two tiny Shrines as one just before, I guess it's only fair to count these two altars as one common Shrine as well.

A little Inari Shrine hidden in the back roads of Nagano, only a short distance away from Zenkoujishita-Eki (善光寺下駅 "Beneath Virtuous Light Temple").

Two  weathered old foxes are vigilantly standing guard outside.

The last Shrine with foxes that I should find during my stay in Nagano.

This one features a total of eight little foxes deep within. It's a little hard to see, but the careful observer will still be able to spot them.

The first, last, and only vulpine Shrine I should find in Nanao, specifically in the Onsen-Town Wakura-Onsen (和倉温泉 "Harmonious Storehouse Hot Spring"), and also the last fox Shrine I should find in August. With only 17 vulpine Shrines altogether, this month clearly ranks in the lower half of the spectrum.

Anyway, this one is located in the courtyard of the Kagaya Battei Matsu-no Oo(加賀屋別邸松乃碧 "Increasing Joy House Villa Pine Green") , and is freely accessible from the nearby road.

The first of many vulpine Shrines I should fin in September, and in (or at the very least near) Nagahama (長浜 "Long Beach"). This one is located north of the actual town, on the countryside, specifically near the village of Torahime (虎姫 "Tiger Princess").

A single small lone foxie stands watch over this tiny Shrine in the middle of the woods at the side of a hill. It doesn't even have a name. It just exists.

The next vulpine Shrine I should find  on the Greater Nagahama Exploration Stray is already located well inside the actual city itself. From here on, the vulpine density should take a sharp increase.

A family of fearsome ferocious foxes fend off fiends from this Shrine.

This one should take some effort to find. It's next to a factory ground, and some of the roads around here are not public. Nonetheless, I should be able to find my way here thanks to the help of some friendly gate guards.

Actually, this is almost a little Shrine complex, with a total of 7 Shrines or Shrine-like places on a space of maybe 300m². Only two of them feature foxes though.

After over half a year in Japan, it's getting harder and harder to find genuinely new impressions, and yet right here and now I should come across something that I had not seen anywhere else before.

This little Side Shrine is apparently dedicated solely to the stone image of a very beautiful anthropomorphic vixen. This is the very first time I've seen something like this at a Shrine.

A Side Shrine of  Hokou Inari Miya (峰高稲荷宮 "Tall Peak Inari Shrine"), found in  a back road of Nagahama.

A whopping total of 41 little foxes decorate this Shrine, including two golden ones, and one made of clay.

A tiny little side Shrine, I'm not even sure it deserves that name.

However, there are three foxies around, so I'm willing to make an exception for this one.

The 200th Inari Shrine I should find in Japan, which should happen to be about 316km to the east, and a little bit to the south of the 100th, which was still in Tokyo.

A total of four foxes are to be found around this one, and then, naturally, there were the two vulpine Side Shrines above adding even more vulpinity to that place. It might not be a Golden Fox Shrine, but it is still nice.

A little Inari Shrine in a side road of Nagahama, right next to a small channel.

The two foxes watching around this one are surrounded by fences. I wonder if that keeps the local cats away.

A noteworthy Inari Shrine that combines a veritable onslaught of different mediums to display foxes. Apart from the "ordinary" fox statues in all sizes and colours, there is also a vulpine lampshade, as well as a stucco depicting two foxes beneath the roof.

This should be one of the few Shrines where I realise attempting to count the foxies would be pointless,  so I just label it as "many".

A Side Shrine standing in a round of little Shrines in Nagahama's Houkouen (豊公園 "Bountiful Park") by the shore of Biwako (琵琶湖 "Glissando Lute Lake").

A total of six little foxies are hiding within, partially obscured by the other decorations, such as the divine bolts of lightning. Can you spot them all?
