A moderately-sized Shrine in the middle of Tokyo.

This one may not have Inari in its name, but since it has a pair of vulpine guardians, I'm counting it as one anyways.

A big shrine sitting right at the shore of the Kanda River.

This one is dedicated not only to foxes, but also has a number of side shrines for other beasts such as Tanukis and Dragons.

Since Tanuki and Kitsune are closely related in Japanese folklore, I figured it would only be fair to post a picture of the Tanuki Side Shrine of Yanagimori Jinja here.

Did you know that male Tanuki actually do have disproportionately large testicles for mammals their size? Sure, they are not nearly as big as the overdrawn version on the left, but the right one actually comes quite close.

A tiny little fox Side Shrine of Yanagamori Jinja.

Looks like she bit off his head, but not before he had the chance to sire a kit.

The last fox Side Shrine of Yanagamori Jinja.

This one rests beneath a fragrant rose bush, a pair of foxes watching over it.

An Inari Shrine near Akihabara.

A whole bunch of foxes is sitting on the slopes of this little artificial hill. They don't look like warriors to me though.

A Side Shrine of Kanda Myouin, the technology shrine of Akihabara.

The two foxes outside apparently didn't do a very good job of keeping this shrine vermin-free, for there is a little mouse inside.

Another Inari Side Shrine of Kanda Myouin.

The foxes here seem to be particularly lithe, and their ears almost resemble a fennec's.

The last Inari Side Shrine of Kanda Myouin, and also the last Inari Shrine I should find on 3-Apr-2018.

I found that one after turning  around and leaving one of the other Side Shrines of Kanda Myouin. When I spotted  it sitting just at the side of the parking lot,  I couldn't stop smiling.

Another Inari  Shrine close to my home in Taitou, and also the first Inari Shrine I should find on 5-Apr-2018.

I wonder why this one is called ChiyodaInari Jinja even though it's located in Taitou-Ku and not in Chiyoda-Ku? Maybe the district borders were different in the past? after all, this little shrine is barely even 30m from the current border to Chiyoda-Ku.

Unlike with most Inari  Shrines, the two guardian foxes don't flank the Shrine this time, but sit next to it. Gauging from the glasses of sake at their paws, they might be taking a short break from duty.

So apparently, this Shrine's theme is fences. That's definitely original.

It's located in a corner of the Izumi Park, and accessible from the road. A total of four foxes stand watch over it.

Not to be confused with Koto-Ku (江東区), which is an entirely different district of Tokyo.

This tiny shrine sits on the veranda of a house. At first, I am hesitant  to enter, but since the flags are inviting me, I eventually take a heart,  climb the stairs, and put a little something in the offertory box after saying a prayer to O-Inari-sama.

A cleverly hidden Inari Shrine in the heart of Akihabara, and the final Shrine I should find on 5-Apr-2018.

I still can't believe I actually found this one, hidden in a narrow backstreet as it was. It rests at the bottom of a chimney of houses, surrounded by walls on all four sides.

I actually made a video about how to get to this Shrine from the main street of Akihabara. Here it is:

A Side Shrine of Torigoe Jinja (鳥越神社 "Cruising Bird Shrine"), and the first of the three Shrines with foxes I should find on 7-Apr-2018.

This one gives a home to abandoned and broken foxes, big or small. The entire cupboard in the background is also full of little fox statues.

A Side Shrine of Dairoku Tensakaki Jinja (第六天榊神社 "Sixth Heaven Evergreen Shrine"), and the second of the three Shrines with foxes I should find on 7-Apr-2018.

At  first I don't see any foxes around here, but a glance inside through the latticework reveals that a pair has taken up shelter inside next to the divine mirror representing the gate to the spirit world through which the goddess sees the world.
