Vulpine Shrine 5/9 of Happyakuman Ookami, and Vulpine Shrine #112 of Inariyama.

The little sibling Shrine of aforementioned one, sharing not only the same space but also the same name. At least it has its own fox pair, the male of which sadly lacks the tip of his tail.

Vulpine Shrine 6/9 of Happyakuman Ookami, and Vulpine Shrine #113 of Inariyama.

A slightly unusual Side Shrine that has the foxes wait outside the Torii. Looking at the number of little red Torii in front of the Ookami stones, it seems to be quite popular.

Vulpine Shrine 7/9 of Happyakuman Ookami, and Vulpine Shrine #114 of Inariyama.

This one is actually located to the left outside the gates of Happyakuman Ookami, but for the sake of simplicity I'm going to count it as a Side Shrine of that area.

Vulpine Shrine 8/9 of Happyakuman Ookami, and Vulpine Shrine #115 of Inariyama.

Right to the left of the previous one, this Shrine's names are written in a flowing script that is not necessarily easy to decipher. I can read two of the names well, one well enough to guess, and for the ther two I really have no idea.

Vulpine Shrine 1/4 of Mitsurugi-no Taki, and Vulpine Shrine #117 of Inariyama.

We're nearing the end of my detailed photo-escapade in Kyoto. At this point, my camera battery is hanging by a thread, and I am surprised it lasted me this far. I am now this close to actually ascending Inariyama instead of walking along its flank, but alas, it should not last.

Anyway, here we are at the next vulpine sanctuary, named 御劔ノ瀧 ("Mitsurugi no Taki", Honorable Sword Cascade), and as usual, there are foxes to be found all around this open-air Shrine.

Vulpine Shrine 2/4 of Mitsurugi-no Taki, and Vulpine Shrine #118 of Inariyama.

A little vulpine Side Shrine with many names, most of which are too whethered and/or complex for me to make out.

I can't remember whether we had the name Ebisu on a Fox Shrine yet. Ebisu (恵比須 "Favourable by all means") is one of the Shichifukujin (七福神 "Seven Gods of Luck") just like Benzaiten, and originally comes from Buddhism. This is another great example of the two religions mingling.

Vulpine Shrine 3/4 of Mitsurugi-no Taki, and Vulpine Shrine #119 of Inariyama.

An even smaller fox Shrine literally right next to the previous one. Though clearly legible, I can't make out the meaning or reading of the first Kanji. It looks like a 里 ("Sato", village) with a 亠 (Radical 8 "lid") on top, but according to all my dictionaries, such a Kanji - or a Kanji that looks anything like it - simply does not exist. It might be a deprecated old Kanji.

The final Vulpine Shrine of Mitsurugi-no Taki, and Vulpine Shrine #120 of Inariyama.

It is here that my camera's battery finally croaks. Too many foxes have given it the Coup de Grace, and I have to admit defeat in the face of this level of vulpinity. By the way, is it just me, or is the fox in the background grinning?

From here on out, I should sparingly use my phone to document at least the most notable conglomerations of vulpine Shrines here on Inariyama, but I am now officially through with trying to document each and every last one of them. It's just too many, and trying as much would probably be a full-time project for a month or so... if not longer.

Vulpine Infinity #7 of Inariyama.

From this point onward, I am no longer attempting to record every single fox Shrine, but will rather handle it in terms of the conglomerations of fox Shrines, which I will call Vulpine Infinities.

This one is located up the flank of Inariyama, ascending along a path up to 200m, with fox Shrines all along the way. I was planning on continuing along the way, only to find that the path was blocked because of the damage that Typhoon Jebi caused half a year ago, when I last was in this general area, over in Nagahama.

Regrettably, I didn't take any photoes of them, so here's a stock photo of the main Shrine of the bunch, located at a height of about 200m up the mountain. Sadly, there are no foxes at that particular Shrine, but there's plenty of em on the way up.

Vulpine Infinity #8 of Inariyama.

This Kitsunemugen is located at the end of the little valley I'm currently in, with plenty of fox Shrines inside. After this, I should try to ascend Inariyama on the other side.

Once again, I did not take a picture here, so this is a stock photo as well.

Vulpine Infinity #9 of Inariyama.

Finally, the top of Inariyama. After a short ascent, I quickly find that the long row of Torii continues up here as well, so I have no problem finding my way whatsoever.

I also find out the process behind those many, many little red Torii in front of the Shrines: Apparently, you can simply buy them as an offering of sorts to the deities, and the temple attendants then write the name of the goddess you want to dedicate it to on the Torii. After that, you carry it to your chosen Shrine and place it in front of it, saying a prayer in the process. The little Torii naturally come in different prices and sizes.

Also, these pictures - as well as the pictures for the next few Kitsunemugen - are finally photos I made myself again using my cell phone.

At this point I have to mess around with time a bit, for you see, I should later visit Inariyama again on Shougatsu (正月 New Year), that's why these pictures were taken in the middle of the night.

Either way, this is the first Kitsunemugen I encounter descending counter-clockwise from Inariyama along the path of Torii, and it should by far not be the last.

Vulpine Infinity #11 of Inariyama.

The next Shrine down descending Inariyama along the road of infinite Torii. Officially, this appears to by Shrine number 13.

This time around, I am mixing pictures I took during my first visit with pictures I took during the new year's night.

Vulpine Infinity #12 of Inariyama.

The next Shrine down the line, guarded among others by a very unique water-spouting fox. Once again, I have pictures from my first daytime and subsequent nighttime visit.

This Shrine is next to 薬力の滝 (Waterfall of Medical Strength), which I persume is a waterfall attributed for restorative properties.
