Vulpine Shrine 12/22 of Shiragiku no Taki, and Vulpine Shrine #97 of Inariyama.

Another fox Shrine of the Line, this one being of the bear field variety, with the foxes wearing bibs in Kouhaku (紅白 "red and white"), which are considered generally auspicious colors in Japan and are also often seen at festivals.

Vulpine Shrine 13/22 of Shiragiku no Taki, and Vulpine Shrine #98 of Inariyama.

A somewhat more luxurious Side Shrine since it at least has its own roof. There are quite a number of Ookami here, and I can only decipher a few of them.

Kiyomi, by the way, are tangerine-orange hybrids, and the first of their kind to be created in Japan, named after the (now reclaimed) Kiyomi-lagoon north of Shizuoka.

An old an weathered fox Shrine, though not quite as old as some others I have seen on my way here.

Vulpine Shrine 15/22 of Shiragiku no Taki, and Vulpine Shrine #100 of Inariyama.

The 100th vulpine Shrine of Inariyama, and I'm not even on top of the mountain yet!

So far, I have gone directly up the slope of Shiragiku no Taki, seen all the fox Shrines at the very top, then went clockwise around and down the right slope of the Shrine. Now I have cut across the centre and am ascending the left slope of the Shrine, which has yet many more Shrines in store for me. I am honestly surprised my camera's battery lasted this long, but I'm pretty certain that it won't live to see the top of the mountain.

Vulpine Shrine 16/22 of Shiragiku no Taki, and Vulpine Shrine #101 of Inariyama.

Now I'm going back towards the top again alongside the left side, coming across more and more fox Shrines along the way.

This Shrine bears the same name as its parent Shrine, as well as two others that are too weathered for me to make out.

Vulpine Shrine 17/22 of Shiragiku no Taki, and Vulpine Shrine #102 of Inariyama.

Curiously, another vulpine Shrine with the exact same primary name follows. Unlike the last one, however, the subordinate names of this Shrine's Kami are written in a clearly legible font, and the only reason I can't read all of them is because they are partially obscured on the photo.

Vulpine Shrine 18/22 of Shiragiku no Taki, and Vulpine Shrine #103 of Inariyama.

And one more vulpien Shrine down the line. This one features the rare two coequal names, which are already kinda unusual themselves.

Vulpine Shrine 19/22 of Shiragiku no Taki, and Vulpine Shrine #104 of Inariyama.

A very monochrome Shrine with almost catlike foxes sitting in front. Unfortunately, the first Kanji of the central name is totally obscured by the Torii on both my pictures. If I have to hazard a completely blind guess, however, I would say it would read 白瀧大神 ("Shirotaki Ookami", making it the White Waterfall Great Goddess.

Vulpine Shrine 20/22 of Shiragiku no Taki, and Vulpine Shrine #105 of Inariyama.

Another Shrine with very cat-like foxes of the exact same design as the last one. It's right next to it after all.

This one has onyl one name, and unfortunately, the first Kanji is cut-off even on my close-up. If I were to hazard a guess, I'd say this one is 青木大神 ("Aoki Ookami"), meaning Japanese Laurel Great Goddess. That would be a relatively common name, and I can see the beginning of a single vertical line just above the Torii, which would be consistent with the Kanji 青.

Vulpine Shrine 21/22 of Shiragiku no Taki, and Vulpine Shrine #106 of Inariyama.

The last fox Shrine in the roundabout of Shrines at Shiragiku no Taki. The Shrines I've been to near the beginning can be seen uphill in the background.

This one has a rather old feel to it, although the inscription is still legible, and the foxes both still bear their tails, so maybe it was just made to look old?

The Last Vulpine Shrine of Shiragiku no Taki, and Vulpine Shrine #107 of Inariyama.

And yet, in the background, you can already see the Torii leading to next vulpine Shrine conglomerate right next door. Should we count it as a separate one? Should we count it as the same? Or should we ask?

Vulpine Shrine 1/9 of Happyakuman Ookami, and Vulpine Shrine #108 of Inariyama.

This Shrine is cheating.

How do you honor all the eight million gods of Japan? Well, you could either build eight million Shrines (or maybe just one million Shrines with an average of eight gods each)...

...or....

Well, I guess by visiting this particular Shrine, I can now say that I'Ve paid my respects to every deity of Japan. Plus, foxes now officially also watch over all the gods.

But as I said: Cheating.

Vulpine Shrine 2/9 of Happyakuman Ookami, and Vulpine Shrine #109 of Inariyama.

The first Side Shrine of what I'll be designating as the Happyakuman Ookami area. Foxes stand around freely here, and some of them, such as these two, also guard Shrines. Also, for some strange reason, there's a rather large number of Shrines dedicated to deities starting with 白 around here.

Vulpine Shrine 3/9 of Happyakuman Ookami, and Vulpine Shrine #110 of Inariyama.

Making true on aforementioned observation, here's a Shrine that revers entirely white deities. Even the last name starts with 白. I can't read it since there's a fox sitting in front of it, but based on what I can make out, I am venturing a guess here that it's name is 白吉大明神 ("Shirayoshi Daimyoujin").
