Title: I need a favor. Involves poetry
Post by: Chaos Hedgie on Apr 18 2006, 02:34 PM
I got a assignment due next monday (April 24th) that involves poetry. Thing is I suck, and I'm on my spring break. So I hate to ask such a question, but I need ten poems by next monday. Please don't find them on the internet, because my teacher said she would scan it like crazy to spot plagrism. If you created poems that mention the following criteria, please PM them to me. Scratch my back and I'll scratch anyones that need help with a history assignment, because history is my best area of expertiese. Oh, and I got a lot of grammar issues in this post, please don't ask.

Criteria:

Narrative, free verse, smilie/metaphor, personification, imagery, rhyme, repetition, dramatic, lyric, and haiku.

Those are the ten types of poems I need. The poems also need to be 12 lines long (except for haiku) however, if you don't know what the hell those criteria mean, and don't have 12 lines to a poem, send it in anyway, I can add lines, and figure out the criteria it belongs to.

Thanks

A explination of the different criteria...

Dramatic, which means that the poem needs a character that talks to or about another character, or talks to himself/herself

Narrative, which is a poem that tells a story. Narrative poems includes ballads, epics (Odyssey) and short poems, although it dosen't have to be one of those type of poems. Just a poem that tells a story

Free Verse,A poem that does not have a fixed pattern of rhyming, meter, or stanza arrangement.

Simile/Metaphor A poem that compares or equates two or more things that has something in common. Simile uses the words like or as. Metaphor compares two or more things, but does not use like or as.

Personification A poem in which an animal, object force of nature is given human qualities or characteristics. ( Like giving a clock human senses, EXAMPLE:"I am a clock, and I see a boy. I tasted a berry, I heard the waves lashing on the sea")

ImageryA poem that the wording creates an image. Or descriptions that appeal to ne or more of the five human senses.

Rhyme A poem that rhymes. That alone does not need explination

Repetition A technique in which sounds, words phrases lines, or stanzas are repeated for emphasis in a poem.

(Something like, I saw a tree, blah blah blah, next line, I saw a tree, then blow blow blow. Next line I saw tree, then something different after that. You get the drift)

Lyric A poem rhat expresses your personal thoughs and feelings.

Haiku ( A very short poem that does not follow the 12 line poem) A japenese form of poetry that has three lines and seventeen syllables.

I had to do something like that a while back  but it we didn't have to do nearly as many as you do. You can use some of my poems if you wish, as I always write new poems and could care less about who does what with them, except copy off of me and say it's theirs, but if it is helpful then so be it ^ ^
