Title: Christmas Trees: Real or Fake?
Post by: Samui on Nov 27 2006, 04:43 PM
I was listening to the radio, and they were talking about how retarded fake trees were, and real trees were better and stuff. I called in, and said "real trees" - because they're less ass to put up, and after Christmas, you can just toss 'em out. I didn't get a chance to state how fake trees would take up space in your basement or whatever, or how the fake trees could stay up year round for those jerks who keep their Christmas decorations up - but I decided to save that part for later, in case they do talk about decorations or something.

What are your thoughts on this? Real or fake?

Real trees are certanly better. I alwais only had real christmas trees and never plastic ones like i saw in shops. They're way better even thow i hate the idea of having to cut them down first but as a christmas tree, real ones are much more better. Fake ones are like a McDonalds

I prefer the fake tree. It's small, it's got lights on the end of the pines and we never decorate trees anyway, so it's all 'round better (for my family). It also saves the trouble of going out and buying one.

Personally, I don't care WHAT kind aof tree I have, just as long as I have one.

We've always used Redwood as far as I can remember.

Type really doesn' t matter. You can toss out a fake one to the curb aswell. This also solves the problem of storage and as for those 'jerks', it's their house. They can make it look as they please not as you do. 8)

Real christmas trees would be great. But space and time is usually the key.
We can't get a real christmas tree so we got ours from the attic; a fake one.
A friend of mine tried using a palm tree as a christmas tree. After an hour of arguing he agreed that it didn't look right with the other decorations..

Hard to say... Real trees are good because they just last a while and you can throw them away. Plus, they have that nice smell to them :)  But fake trees dont need to be watered and you spend less on them over the years than buying a new one every Christmas. I guess real ones are better.

It doesn't really make a difference to me. The real trees are more of a hassle I think, but whatever :)

I prefer a fake tree, but it is more about nostalgia than an actual preference for me. Growing up my family always had a fake tree because it was more economical. Now that I am out on my own I find that I prefer the pain of dragging out the old plastic hunk of junk and playing match the pieces.

Real, even though I feel bad when they die

Though I do not put up a tree I would prefer fake.  Multiple reasons.

1) I live on the second floor, and can barely fit my big screen TV/couch upstairs.
2) Fakes don't kill trees.
3) Fakes don't spread needles all over your carpet.
4) ALOT less maintenance.

The only con I can think of is it doesn't have that nice conifer smell :(

I don't care but would prefer fake. IMO it's all about what's under the tree. ^_^

XD You just hit the nail on the head with that one.  I like the smell of a real one but fake ones are easier to maintain.  Whichever comes first is fine with me.

I prefer fake trees. You can use them every year and they really don't take up much space. Besides that, I find that they're cheaper in the long run and provide a nice sense of tradition from using the same tree every year.  :)
