Title: Useing your own Ring tones on a Razor
Post by: BlueKitsune S on Jun 10 2007, 12:49 PM
I recently got a Motorola Razor V3m and I'm trying to figure out how you could put your own ring tones on it. I already know how to put MP3s on it but is there anyway i could use then as my ring tone with having to buy the tone...OR Recording them...

You need to somehow connect the cell phone to your computer ( either via Bluetooth or data cable ), and get BitPim (http://www.bitpim.org). At least, that's how it works for every other phone I've used (namely, Audiovox 8910 and LG VX8900)

I've also read somewhere you can attach the tone to a text message to yourself. I never tried that, though.

normally you just put the song you want to use on your phone and then theres usually an option to set it as a ringtone. But im not to sure what American phones have to do, they are somewhat dated compared to the phones in England. But my phone i just put the song on, went to settings, ringtone and selected it from my music folder.

It normally should... if not its clearly more stupid company policies, i dunno when these end for stuff >.> anyway i hope you can put them with that program. dont forget to check the menus well though to be sure you havent missed any options, mobiles with a lot of keys could have less visible ways to enter menus.

[edit] just googled and yeah it happens because verizon (if you got it form there) or probably motorola want more money for stuff, though it appears to be the provider's plan. If its the provider firmware and not the phone itsself by default, take it to motorola and see if they can flash it and put in a normal firlware for it.

Check places like HowardForums or something - they might have some information. When I had my Audiovox, I had to upload ringtones, wallpapers, etc... directly to the phone's filesystem. You might have to do the same as well.

I have one of the original RAZOR 1s O.o;  If I were more into ringtones I'd be into this :)  Still useful info though :)

Change the *.mp3 to *.mid. It's an old manufacturer's trick.

He'll have to call us @ 1877-778-2106, because the unlock for those phones are directly tied to his account with us.

Actually, he has a Cingular account, and he wants to use that phone on their network.
