Ya so name says all. I know it has the power and i dont mind letting it run all the time help please o.o
-
You would want to get Apache (http://httpd.apache.org), PHP (http://www.php.net), and MySQL (http://www.mysql.com).
Installing those would be the first step. :P

What OS? The one I'm going to use is running windows 98 (Soon to be linux maybe)
-
Not sure how well it would work on Win98. That might go over as well as a fart in church. I would recommend Ubuntu. In which case, setting things up would be easy.
-
Win 98 is very old, you should upgrade to XP for now. Otherwise, I never looked into that much so unfortunately I don't know, but it is most likely not too hard so yeah
-
Go with the upgrade to linux, chances are it'll crash way less. Windows servers are known to be easier to work with but crash a lot more. Oh and thanks for the unintentional advice there, I wasn't sure which linux OS I should get myself. ^_^
-
Also, it is easier to upgrade stuff on Ubuntu than on Windows. They're pretty good about rolling out security updates and stuff. All you have to do is run: apt-get update; apt-get upgrade.
-
Oh wow thanks :) I'm gonna get to work on that now. Thanks again.
EDIT
Eh this PC is good but i hope it will do.
Kubuntu 7.1
512 RAM
20Gb HDD
older then 1999 BIOS
a Pentium 3
And some old nivida video card
Think it will work?
-
Of course it'll work. I've run servers on absolute -dinosaurs- of rigs. Remember the old Compaqs with a Pentium I, 1-10GB of space, 64-128MB of RAM, etc? Yeah. It's a good thing you have an nVidia card, though, because the ATI drivers for Linux are notoriously stupid. Not that you'd need DRI support anyway. Shrugs.
