I don't know about you, but I think this game is shaping up to be pretty awesome. For starters, when has there ever been a multi-player Mario game in 3D? Secondly, not counting Super Paper Mario, this is the first time Peach/Toadstool has been playable in a mainstream Mario platformer since Super Mario Bros. 2, which was about twenty-five years ago. Her playability means that they're finally doing something different for a change, where she isn't getting kidnapped by Bowser again for the umpteenth time. I can't tell you how tired I am of that same boring, repetitive storyline.
Speaking of which, this may possibly mean that Bowser isn't the main villain this time around. As slim as the chances may be, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Wart's return. That guy is way overdue for a comeback.

Ugh. I don't know about anyone else, but I find Bowser to be highly overrated. I'm sick of him getting all this special treatment, while far greater villains (or at least those that have the potential to be) continue to get brushed aside and ignored, as if they never existed.

For the most parts, this looks like a pretty solid game. Once again, the only gripe that I have with it is that Bowser's the main villain again. They always, always feel the need to shoehorn him into everything, and I just can't stress it enough how much I'm sick of him. Don't even get me started on the BS they pulled towards the end of Dream Team. Ugh, they just couldn't keep a good thing going.

in order for the next main mario game to have a non-bowser antag, it'll need to have bowser as playable
the main mario games have one thing they haven't done yet but already done in spinoffs, and that's playable bowser

Maybe, but that's kind of minor compared to all the attention that Super Mario Bros. 1 and 3 get, along with Super Mario World. I do agree that the Super Mario Land series could use more attention, though. Why they decided to bring Daisy into the spin-offs and not Tatanga is beyond me.

i remembered when everyone missed the koopalings and there was much rejoice when NSMBWii broke them out of their hiatus
however NSMB2 and U genericized the koopalings to hell, and now nobody wants them anymore because they keep rehashing their fight styles, now they're seen as cop outs for what would've been greater and more creative boss battles
