That reason alone tells me that this is going to be better than the NES Classic by a longshot. As decent as the latter was, it didn't contain anything that couldn't already be found on the Virtual Console. With the re-release of the original Star Fox and SNES Yoshi's Island (not that there was a huge difference between it and the GBA version), as well as the finalized version of Star Fox 2 finally seeing the light of day after twenty-two years, that's no longer an issue, and I'll definitely be picking one of these up when the time comes.

Here's what the official "boxart" looks like:

Uh, so apparently, there were never any legal issues (http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2017/06/star_fox_2_release_has_nothing_to_do_with_super_fx_patent_expiring_says_argonaut_founder) that prevented this or the other Super FX games from getting a re-release up until now. Once this news came to light, others have theorized that it may have been emulation issues. That makes sense, since I remember a time where ZSNES (and possibly other emulators) couldn't run Star Fox 2 without excessive flickering, among other issues.

except the original prototype SF2 ROMs going around on the web are supposedly buggy messes to begin with and needed modification to either the ROMs themselves and/or the emulators to properly function

then again it took nintendo 7 years after the birth of the virtual console to re-release earthbound in some form (and the demo in JP brawl doesn't count), despite key nintendo staff stating that none of the legal issues starmen.net+EBcentral said could've been problems, and the game was re-released untouched outside of some anti-epilepsy measures

Also, there's a digital manual (https://www.nintendo.co.jp/clvs/manuals/starfox2/html/EUen/index.html) for the game, which mistakenly says that Wolf, rather than Pigma, is the "despicable criminal [who] will betray anyone for the right price.".
