In honor of the Sonic franchise's 15th anneversary, a GBA port of Sonic 1 for the Sega Genesis is set for release in November. It will have a save game function and also have the spindash in it, unlike the original Sonic 1 game.
-
I've heard about this last month. This wouldn't be the first time Sonic 1 had the spindash in it, because it did in Sonic Jam, as well.

OK kiddies, don't get this game. It's a shitty port. It's laggy, Sonic's sprites are of lower quality, the background craps up usually at the end of the zones, etc. Believe me, don't get it, it'll save you the $19.95 it costs.
You disappoint me, Sonic Team, you go and try to make a handheld port of the very first Sonic game, and u r t3h phailz0re at it.
Could've been better if it was remade with SADV style graphics and the SADV game engine instead.
-They tried to make the spindash like Sonic 2 and above, but you can't rev it, so it's more like Sonic CD's spindash, but with Sonic 2's sprites.
-This game is a port of the most recent version of Sonic 1.
-Backgrounds and graphics get glitchy sometimes.
-Some parallax effects from the original game is missing in some zones in this game.
-
It's a good thing I downloaded a ROM of this game yesterday, and now I know NOT to buy it whenever I DO get some money. I had high hopes for this game, and thought that it would play just like the original Sonic 1, but now I'm VERY disappointed. This game has officially been taken off my "games to get" list.

Thank goodness I emulated it too. What a way to celebrate Sonic's 15th anneversary. They keep this up, Sonic's gonna be a dead franchise.
-
I would say that the Sonic franchise is already on its way to being dead, if you take a look at the crap they're adding into Next-Gen Sonic. Sonic saving a princess, as if it were a Mario or Zelda game, unnecessary design changes (Robotnik, anyone?), and so forth.
Now, as for Sonic 1 GBA, it's amazing how a whole team of programmers couldn't do a simple port of Sonic 1, while ONE person was able to successfully port the Master System version to the GBA. Even though THAT wasn't a hundred percent perfect, it was still a HECK of a lot better than the piss-poor job that Sonic Team did of porting the Genesis version to the GBA.

Sonic saving a princess, as if it were a Mario or Zelda game,
Heh, wasn't the first time he had to save a girl from his nemesis, it's been since 1993.
Sonic did the whole "defeat the big bad guy, save the girl" thing way before next-gen Sonic, look at Sonic CD.
