Apparently, Hunnid-P, the guy who worked on the rap songs for Knuckles' stages in the Sonic Adventure games, is working on a new project that's said to be Sonic-related. Plus, Sega or some other third party company has registered the "Sonic Adventure 3" domain name, so there's definitely a strong chance that these two bits of information are connected.

yes, we're due for another main sonic title, generations is old news.
all were getting this year is S&ASRT, a spinoff. if anything we'll probably see "SA3" next year

Apparently, both Takashi Iizuka and Yuji Naka have plans for a new Sonic game on the Wii U. (http://mynintendonews.com/2012/09/21/sonic-creator-wants-to-create-something-for-wii-u/) This, combined with earlier information leads to the possibility of this being Sonic Adventure 3. If this ends up being another game where only Sonic's playable and/or they reuse the Unleashed daytime engine (or something similar to it, like with Colors), then I'll be severely disappointed. I already have little interest in the Wii U as it is, and that certainly isn't gonna help.

i think what naka is trying to say is he's interested in the wii U and wants to develop for it
but do we really need an SA3? might as well ask for sonic 2 '13 while we're at it...

I think we could definitely use a third Adventure title. As far as I'm concerned, it's the only way that other characters besides Sonic and Robotnik (as well as Tails and Metal Sonic, to some extent) will truly have any significance in the series again.

the SA games are what started the "too many characters" debacle in the first place, now it's too hard for sega to give each some screentime without breaking a game
it was fine with sonic/tails/robotnik, with knuckles, amy and metal sonic sometimes getting involved, but not the entire gay gang of characters they crapped out from the dreamcast era onwards
sega isn't going to put some 20 or more playable characters in a sonic game unless it's a sonic the fighters sequel or something

hell, they made the amigo system so everyone can get their dose of screentime
but sega kept making new characters with almost every new game they come out with, in one case bringing back lesser-known characters from obscurity (chaotix)

I really, really hope this is true. I just can't stress it enough, how I've been getting tired of the same boring, repetitive formula. Aside from the whole "only Sonic should be playable" thing that's been going on for the past six years, the Unleashed Daytime engine has been getting milked left and right, like there's no tomorrow. Not every game in the series has to be Unleashed. That's hardly any different from Capcom trying to make every game in the Mega Man series (back when they actually cared about it, of course) be like Mega Man 2.
On the Dimps subject... To be honest, I think they usually do a good job on the handheld titles, so I'm not sure what to think of this. After all, they sometimes handled things better in their versions of a game better than Sonic Team did. The Time Eater battle in Generations was a prime example. Also, I can honestly say that I preferred the DS version of Sonic Colors over the Wii version, which I feel is pretty overrated. Although, I think we all could agree that they were the wrong ones to choose for Sonic 4's development. While I liked both episodes to some degree, they just didn't quite capture the feel of the classics like they should have.

i'd say the sonic 4 trainwreck was the straw that broke the camel's back and prompted sega to ban dimps from touching the hedgehog ever again
but i swear if this is another dayleashed game...

on second thought, those rumors did sound familiar...and it all turned out to be an edit of rumors from back when generations was over the horizon
