LBA and LBA2 came out as DOS and Windows95 games.

The story is based around a character called Twinsen.

Your in a 3rd person view and you can change the behaviour of your character to 4 different modes.
Normal, Sporty, Agressive, Discreet. (each with their own styles of fighting or secret abilities)

It was a nice game for its time and its still popular even today!
Theres loads of projects going on for LBA1 like OpenSource projects for making mods or stand alone games like LBA1.

Anyway heres some Wiki links for both the games.

It's been so long since I've played those games...It's too bad I can't get either of them to work in DOSBox or Wine (in Linux) =/

Reviving this thread!

LBA1 works in DOSBox just fine. But LBA2 gives me this "You need the LBA2 CD to play this game. Sorry."

I'm using DOSBox under Linux. And I'm using ISOs. Apparently, the CD label needs to be "ADELINE" or "TWINSEN"...

Going to try WINE.

I haven't played the first game; never got my hands on it.

But I'm obsessed with the second one.
My cousin gave me a copy some 8-10 years ago. It was love and obsession on first site.
And wen I showed it to my friend, she got obsessed to. We spent almost one whole year trying to get to the end, playing it day after day at my place. And then wen we did, we spent another year playing it over and over and over again. Our record to get from start to finish, without stopping, is about 3 hours.

Still having no luck getting LBA2 to run. Even in WINE.

LBA1 runs fine on both my laptop and my desktop, my desktop having all the videos. I even am able to hack the save files to add more lives, health, and kashes. I know there's a savefile hacking utility already made, but it's more fun using a hex editor than anything else. :3

Update: *FINALLY* got it to work in WINE. I'm so happy now. ^_^

There is an open-source reimplementation of the LBA1 engine in the works called TwinEngine. This could be very useful for those who just plain can't get the game running on Linux or newer versions of Windows. Though currently, it is very buggy (as expected in alpha stage).

On another note, if you look on the MagicBall Network site, you will see that there are a couple nifty programs that can modify LBA1 to the point where you can basically make your own version of the game. Not quite yet, but they're getting closer. I might check it out just for the hell of it.

*revive*

Since I left there has been some updates at MBN (LBA community).

LBA 1 has released its first mod and a chat interface is being created in an LBA2 style.

I myself have contributed to their community and have created 'Citadel Island' for LBA1 on the Source Engine. - Its not much as its only a small deathmatch map with quite a few bugs since I'm a beginner map maker.

-- I'm not certain if I still have the map though since my old computer died and now I have a new custom built computer (yay for 'Chaotic_Blue!' - yeah.. I was made to name it after it cost so much..)
