The keyboard of tomorrow!
« on: Jul 21 2005, 06:35 PM »

The Optimus keyboard, a yummy Russian invention that's going to make it from the drawing board to the production plant. Scheduled out in 2006, it can change its key layout to whatever layout (Dvorak, QWERTY, etc) or language (ancient Greek, Russian, French, German, etc) you want, and even switch to specific application shortcut keys or game key layouts, complete with icons, and all through software that happens to be open source and cross-platform. It also includes 20 quick-access keys for launching programs, even showing the application icons on the buttons.

Completely OLED driven, it can also be set up to show "keysavers" that keep the keyset from burning into the keys. What's more, since it's basically a display device, you might be able to use it to display images, or even a desktop, though they don't officially suggest it as an application.

It would be good for novices who don't know the keys very well for games or typing (since it's naturally illuminated), people who don't want to switch keyboards when moving to a different country, or power users who know the key placements and want to type at a cool, swishing-colours keyboard.

That is smart! I keyboard with changing keys!
That'd be great for games, so You don't have to memorize game shortcuts or keys.

The lighted keyboard would be great for dark rooms and gaming.

Imagine the sweet mods that are gonna come out of this.

Wow, that key looks so hologramic-like! This is so cool... and if the numbers on the keyboard are like green or blue neons, I'd spend the whole night in the dark looking at them lol!

Actually, the keyboard is completely OLED-based - Each key is actually an LED display.

Wow, really cool! I have to get it! I have an obsession for leds and text that lights like a led in the dark and I'd need it if it's better for gaming. Can't wait for it to get on the market!

I cant wait to see that maybe it could help those who cant type for crap.
Your roots are strong. But only by constantly reaching for the sun, will you grow above the rest of the forest.

The true mind can weather all the lies and illusions without being lost. The true heart can tough the poison of hatred without being harmed.

It is only when a mosquito lands on your testicles, that you realize violence doesnt solve all problems
