Title: New Super Mario Bros. 2
Post by: Mystical Ninja on Apr 26 2012, 10:07 AM
No, I don't mean New Super Mario Brothers Wii, I mean this:

[Nintendo Direct]New Super Mario Bros 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KqMPKlb7sxw#ws)

Not a lot of information has been revealed as of yet but what we do know is:

-It's for the Nintendo 3DS (argh, I STILL have yet to get one of those).
-Raccoon Mario (rather than Tanooki Mario) is going to be in the game.
-The "P-Meter" from Super Mario Bros. 3 also makes a return.
-It will be released in Japan sometime in August (there's been no word of a North American or European release date so far).

in SM3DL luigi got a kitsune suit (seems they couldn't intentionally misspell kitsune for this, kittsnay? i got nothing...) with the super leaf instead of the tanooki suit, so maybe luigi will become "fox luigi" with the super leaf in this game?

i'm betting the tanooki suit will return again for the statue ability

all-yellow/gold enemies? bowser stole all the super stars and giving them to his minions? that'd be a challenge, running through a level full of invincible enemies

mario releases are usually either simultaneous or NA sunday releases as with most major nintendo titles, so we'll most likely get it in august

in semi-related news, NSMBMii reportedly is becoming a full wii U retail title

EDIT:
rumor has it that NSMB2 will also be released for digital download on the eshop...maybe i should look into a 32gb sd card

update

turns out the theme this time is COINS, COINS EVERYWHERE

the gold enemies result from jumping in a gold loop, and they just shit coins everywhere

gold mario is a powerup from the gold fire flower which turn brick blocks to coins and etc

coins gushing out of pipes

reznor from SMW is back from the dead, and the koopalings are back again

Eh, to be honest, neither this game or New Super Mario Bros. U look like anything extraordinary to me. I'm not saying that either games are going to be downright terrible or anything, I'm just not all that excited for them. I guess it's because of the fact that they're hardly any different from the previous games, and hardly add anything new that we haven't seen before. I really wish they'd make another game like Super Mario Bros. 2 for a change.

In any case, though, it's nice to see the Koopalings are getting used again, along with Reznor's return.
