what ultimately became the swan song of rare's nintendo days before microsoft swiped them right after this ultimately was hastily retooled for the gamecube and launched in the form of star fox adventures, 2 years after this build's date, this one appears to be a late build already well in the transition into the star fox franchise, indicating that the transition started earlier than most thought

That's an awesome find. Sadly, this seems to run on very few emulators other than Mupen64 at the moment.

Also, there's now a mod that replaces Fox with Sabre:

Supposedly, Miyamoto's entire reason for suggesting the conversion, is because he thought that Sabre resembled Fox. While the two characters sound the same (since they're voiced by the same guy), they honestly don't look all that much alike. This seems like a case of grasping at straws to me.
