- upgraded CPU and memory
- facetracking for the 3D effect
- SFC controller inspired ABXY buttons
- R2 and L2 triggers
- c-stick
- NFC support for amiibo stuff (older revisions are still getting a peripheral)
- will have games exclusive to it that take advantage of the upgraded hardware, so far being a xenoblade chronicles port
- others like majora's mask 3D and MHU4 will have special features with the upgrade hardware, can still function on old revisions
- in japan this october, other regions expected in 2015
- standard N3DS model has customizable faceplates
- microSD instead of standard SD

I think they've jumped the gun with this, big-time. The 3DS only came out a whopping three years ago, so it's way too early for this. Hmm, but then again, that is the amount of time it took for the Game Boy Advance to be released when the Game Boy Color came out in 1998...
-
Imagine when people start selling a used New 3DS on EBay or something.
-
Solutions would be to name this upcoming version the "S3DS" (Super 3DS), the "3DSA" (3DS Advanced), or the "3DA".
Needless to say, though, this does address some of the criticisms aimed towards the original 3DS (the requirement of having to allign the 3DS at just the right angle for the effect to work, and the lack of a second circle pad. Also, the processing power limitations.)
Question is, how's the battery life, and will it still be backwards compatible with NDS titles?
-
Yeah with the new consoles coming out and everything, backward compatibility is a very big thing. it's basically been the biggest reason i havent gotten a lot of new systems. I do appreciate the fact that nintendo is trying to improve the 3DS, but how many times are they going to re-release it with something added in or taken out (such as the 2DS)?
