Yeah, I heard about this yesterday. Good thing I've already downloaded all three games about four years ago. Plus, I also have the ROMs, so this doesn't affect me all that much.
-
no official statement was ever released, however i might've found the problem
gnawty, while an enemy species in the DK subverse, is an NPC in the banjoverse:
http://banjokazooie.wikia.com/wiki/Gnawty (http://banjokazooie.wikia.com/wiki/Gnawty)
further complicating things, is that gnawty is still in the B-K XBLA port
-
Looks like an "HD" version of the game has been getting sold illegally. (http://www.gonintendo.com/?mode=viewstory&id=216003)

Looks like the Donkey Kong Land trilogy is coming to the 3DS eShop pretty soon. (https://twitter.com/NintenDaan/status/448657235124977664)
It's about time. Too bad this is only for Japan at the moment. As crappy as the American release schedule is for eShop games, there's no telling when these will be coming our way.
-
knowing NoA we'll be lucky to have the entire DKL trilogy before the announcement of the 3DS's successor
VC has and always been on NoA's backburner ever since wiiware became a thing back in the wii's salad days. before wiiware we were actually getting VC releases left and right.
nowadays nintendo dosen't even give dearly departed hiroshi yamauchi's last shit if NA has to wait over a year after everyone else for SMB3 to hit their 3DS/wiiU VC.

- japan had the whole wario land trilogy in 6 months
- europe had the whole trilogy within a year
- in america, WL2 came out a YEAR after WL1, and by the time we got WL3, japan had it for over a year

Yeah, and let's not forget the Game Boy Mega Man titles. It was announced last year in July that they were coming to the 3DS eShop, and guess what? It still hasn't happened. At least not in the US or Europe. Japan already has all seven (including the two X-Treme games), while America and Europe still have yet to get anything beyond Dr. Wily's Revenge, and that's been on the eShop for almost three years now.
-
http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2013/10/capcom_issues_update_on_game_boy_mega_man_titles_heading_to_3ds_virtual_console
“These are just a handful of titles in Nintendo’s busy Virtual Console schedule,” said Elston. “There are new titles releasing each week so that means a bit of a bottleneck. We basically announced these games as soon as it was possible to do so, which means anything already in the pipeline is ahead of all six Mega Man Game Boy titles.
“I wanted to get the word out really early on this since it was cool news. The downside is that means a longer wait.”
and so it seems that nintendo's "busy VC schedule" as elston puts it is being bogged down by all these ports of dinky phonegames, geeky indie titles and whatever you have of the "wares" games, all being a mix of trash and treasure, that frequent eshop releases nowadays.
and VC is only going to get pushed back even further now with the "nintendo web framework" that allows webkit based software to be ported to the wiiU (with 3DS support being considered)

europe's getting them back w/ the DKL trilogy

Cool. I wish they'd hurry up and add them to the American eShop. The Donkey Kong Land series is way overdue.

http://www.nintendolife.com/wiiu-eshop/games/soon
we're getting DKL2 on the 23rd, before DKL1 for some strange reason
castlevania currently is the focus on the wii U, so unfortunately...
-
Hmm... I wonder if that means the first one will be getting added to the American eShop tomorrow, just as it is in Europe? That's the only explanation I could think of as to why the second one is scheduled for release next week in conjunction with its European release date, despite the fact that the first one hasn't been added yet.
EDIT: Well, so much for that theory. This really makes no sense. Sure, I'm glad that at least one of them are being added at all, but they definitely should have started with the first one. That's the one I wanted the most, since it has the most original content of the three (from what I've played so far).
-
Well, as it turns out, the second one didn't end up getting released, either. What is going on with Nintendo of America's release schedule?
-
Unfortunately, there's still no word on whether or not we're getting the Country and Land series, but King of Swing, for whatever reason, is scheduled for release tomorrow (http://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/UmLUMrrxLgdj9i5t0G-AqKZAYvLe8gG3).

i think NoA and microsoft are in some kind of backroom quarrel that's holding up the DKC/DKL games stateside
they're both in redmond WA, so they're basically neighbors
-
happy anniversary DKC
shame it's still looking like a while before we see them out again
-
Once again, there's still no word on when these games are coming to the American eShop, but Donkey Kong Land has recently gotten an ESRB rating (http://www.esrb.org/ratings/synopsis.jsp?Certificate=31206&Title=Donkey%20Kong%20Land&searchkeyword=), so that may be a sign of things to come.
-
and these

http://www.esrb.org/ratings/synopsis.jsp?Certificate=1003246&Title=DonkeyKongCountry2%20-%20Diddy%20&searchkeyword=donkey%20kong
some phonegame maker probably slapped ROMs in an emulator and released them as games
-
so the DKL and DKC SNES trilogy are all now on the eshop
i got a spotpass notification for the "donkey kong knock-out offer"
the DKL trilogy and the DKC SNES trilogy are all participating games in the offer
-
Damn it... These conveniently showed up the week after I spent the remainder of my points on Street Fighter Alpha 2 and Pokémon Shuffle. I was originally saving them for the Donkey Kong Land trilogy, but I figured that the chances of them showing up anytime soon was slim to none. Then what happens? They appear the very next week! Just my luck...
-
Pokémon Shuffle
wat
should've gone with battle trozei, that's basically battle trozei freemium edition
-
The only reason I downloaded that in the first place is because it was free, and in hopes of getting some Club Nintendo Play Coins. Since there's already another game like it, I really feel as if I've been ripped off now...
-
after years of endless speculation and rare/micro$oft conspiracy theories (hell, even rare themselves wondered), DK64 is finally making it to the wii U VC
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015-04-01-n64-ds-games-launch-on-wii-u-virtual-console
how they'll handle the unlockable arcade DK and jetpac should be known in not for long
-
so according to players of the VC version, nothing was removed
orange clipping might be a bit harder to pull off due to the emulation environment
-
some DKC concept art
http://mynintendonews.com/2015/09/05/rare-developer-shows-off-various-donkey-kong-country-concept-art/
seems "donkey kong and the golden bananas" was an early title
DK having a tie was miyamoto's idea, the design in the artwork he provided would later be used in DK '94
cranky wasn't all thin and fragile
diddy was merely a redesigned DKjr.
kremlings with hilariously thin waists
