Copypasta from my myspace bulletin.
So I'm replacing the background in this one game, (yes I am an undercover geek if you havent noticed already) so I'm making a new background combining elements of different games or whatnot. But I'm hitting a block. I need to know what goes well with what. The type of level I'm making is a city in the sky, so I need the clouds to shroud the very bottoms of the buildings. Only problem is I don't know which set of clouds would look good.So here's the city

There are two sets of clouds, I'll name the first set "SSZ" (Yes, the initials stand for something, if you know what I know, you'll know what they mean SSZ clouds come in chunks, so pick one chunk out and compare it to HTZ clouds, then tell me which one would fit better. SSZ Clouds

Just imagine all those chunks put together. Look familiar? Then you know what game I'm editing

What I need help with is which clouds would look better, and the darkening of them, as I can't darken for shit.
If I get 500 million views and no replys, I'm seriously going to break a keyboard

it's obvious that I smell sonic 1 hack.
OK now, i'm what most would call "below average" when it comes to sonic hacking, because I can't do shit unless there's a utility for what can be done...
i'd use the SSZ clouds, and then darken them to a purplish shade so it dosen't clash with the city bg...
edit:ok then, you'll just have to hack SSZ's palletes so everything blue and white (clouds) is the same purplish shade as the sky in the city bg...

you ssrly need to get MSN or AIM.
I'm not good at pallete work though, so I was gonna ask you for your assistance. And they got palette utilities.
Oh btw, which clouds in the SSZ set did you pick?

pallete utilities are as common as grass, who dosen't have em?
we can use the city bg and the SSZ clouds, and maybe use part of the doomsday zone's bg at the very bottom of the zone.

Doomsday Zone no, because this city isn't floating in space.
That and I just need the clouds, and some stars above the city. And the city is at nighttime.
You gotta remember I have only so much space in sonic 1 to fit this all in. At the very bottom of SLZ, where the buildings are, that's where the clouds were going, the buildings I envisioned in the middle, and stars at the top.
I'm seriously liking that mock-up though, you're skills are verry good.

the DDZ bg part is meant to be a distant birds-eye view of the ground/ocean. but oh well, the mock-up wouldn't work well anyway because the parallax would mess it up....and we can't change the parallax without superb coding skills.
so we make the bg match up with SLZ's parallax.
as for the city background, it came out of an SNES game, so we'll probably need a utility that can change it's colors so the genesis can handle it. I recall finding such a utility a long time ago...
or we'll use a different city background. I know of some games I can rip a good city background from...

Nigra, that's Megaman X3, I'm not scrapping that. That game is pure awesome.
Seeing as you offered, there's probably better city levels, so let's see what you come up with.
Oh and let me know if you come up with any robotic volcano levels, as thats want I want to replace SBZ with, one with the exterior showing the volcano, and the interior, which would be the base.
I think something like photoshop can change its colors, but my copy expired.
Superb coding skills? I got that covered (lol I hope) but yeah, I really didn't want a birds eye view of the ocean. Besides, too big.

Not allowed? I wasn't allowed to join forums, get IM programs, or use chat rooms. But I did it anyway. Now I'm famous (lol moar liek hated, amirite) on the sonic internets
Besides, aren't you almost 18 anyway?
But oh well, try hanging on the cgi or java, whatever the hell Samui uses IRC though, you don't install nothing. I might frequent it moar if you start joining it.
