Un-named story

Mind you this story has been altered and changed so many times due to the fact that it has been in my head for many years and I've finally managed to start it......again but with major changes. I will accept ratings and any helpful tips and/or ideas. I haven't quite decided where I wish to take this story yet but i'll post it in parts considering I have yet to make chapters and what not. let me know what y'all think woof woof.

As he woke up coughing and gasping among the settling dust and rubble Dusk had only one thing on his mind, what the hell happened? He looked around in the darkness just barely able to see thanks to the very few shafts of sunlight peaking through here and there. Dusk’s head hurt and he was sure three of his ribs were broken on his left side as well as his left arm. Then it hit him…where was Danyel and Fox? Did they survive whatever happened here or did they succumb to an unjustifiable death?
He lay there in silent thought ribs and arm aching trying to put all the shattered pieces of the puzzle together again when he heard something that sounded like movement followed by heavy coughing. “Hello?!” Dusk shouted coughing from all the dust. He waited for a reply but grew worried at the silence. Could it have just been rubble shifting? Then a faint voice just caught his ear. “D-Dusk?” Danyel cried out coughing and choking. “What on earth happened and where’s Fox!?” she continued her voice growing more frantic as she slowly realized where she was. Dusk didn’t answer right away for fear of worrying her more than she already probably was.
He didn’t know what the severities of her injuries were or where Fox was or how bad he was injured…if he was still alive. Hopefully he was still alive. Unfortunately he had no choice but to tell her what he knew. “I don’t know, hell I don’t even know what happened.” he groaned through clenched teeth. At the instant he finished his sentence the sound of moving debris and rubble caught his attention. Dusk prayed it wasn’t the rubble collapsing down towards him or Danyel when sunlight suddenly exploded through all around him coming from right above blinding him from the sudden exposure. Dusk felt someone or something slip under his right arm and start to pull him up with a heavy groan and great speed. Next thing he knew he was looking up at Fox’s blood covered grinning face as his eyes very slowly began to adjust. Fox didn’t say a single word only smiled. His right eye was swollen shut and he had a number of nasty cuts along with a few noticeable chards of metal sticking out of his skin. His clothes were fairly shredded and burnt; Dusk noted that he looked like he was caught in an explosion but something in the way he moved said he was severely injured, yet the fact that he was even up and moving at all was a miracle and amazement on its own.  Fox had a steel pole in his right hand about five feet long and not very thick that he kept tapping as he moved slowly across the debris. Fox kept his left arm against his right side not moving it once as he carefully maneuvered around. Dusks’s eyes finally adjusted fully to the sunlight and he was devastated at his surroundings.
Nothing but stone, steel and flame lay around and beneath him. The place they all once stood in was now a smoldering pile.
It was also then he remembered Danyel. How could he forget! He immediately went to get up to help Fox look but couldn’t. “Danyel!” he shouted her name as loud as he could but due to his broken ribs he could only shout once and hope it was enough. All he knew was that she was nearby. She sounded close when he was under the debris and rubble. He waited carefully watching Fox when Fox suddenly dropped to one knee letting go of the steel pole and grabbed a fair sized chunk of debris with his right hand and with a loud yell somehow managing to gain enough leverage to move the chunk revealing a pocket in the debris and rubble before falling onto his back on the ground. As Fox fell that was when Dusk saw it. Fox was smiling, but it wasn’t the smile that drew his attention. It was the trails of blood coming from the sides of his mouth that drew Dusk’s attention. Dusk thought to him self in worry, was Fox going to die here? He lay back afraid to move anymore because the more he moved the more he risked puncturing a lung.

Danyel heard Dusk’s scream but it sounded like he was above her somewhere now. There was also this odd tapping of steel so she screamed out hoping Dusk was up there and going to dig her out when sunlight burst in at the sound of someone’s painful yell as the stone just above her moved surprisingly. She got up surprised at having sustained minimal injuries except a few cuts and bruises.
As she looked around at the devastation she spotted Dusk lying atop of the rubble. He was out and safe, injured but safe she though to herself. It was then the question dawned on her. Who moved the stone letting her out of that pocket in the rubble? Her eyes drifted down to her left on the ground and she gasped in horror at the site of her fiancée Fox severely injured breathing heavily on the ground. How in the hell could he have moved that stone in his condition? It must have taken everything he had left to do it Danyel thought. She dropped to her knees beside him tears rolling down her cheeks. Fox opened his good eye halfway and smiled at her, then stared into the horizon and choked out two words “H-helps….c-coming.” Danyel could tell Fox was glad she and Dusk were alive and safe but she knew his injuries were worse than she first thought. Then came a familiar sound in the air. It sounded like a helicopter no, there was definitely more than one and they weren’t small ones either.  “Hurry up!” Danyel whispered under her breath impatiently.
Her words were answered as the helicopters were rather fast and already starting to land kicking up sand ash and dirt from their massive propeller blades. They had the company logo on them and the first one down was a medi-chopper as they nicknamed it.
Danyel remembered everything that happened but dismissed it all from her mind for now and started waving her arms as teams of medics with gurneys and med kits rushed out to help as well as search for the injured and the dead. A team immediately began heading towards her and Fox while another team headed for Dusk. When she looked down again at Fox she realized he had passed out! “Fox...!” Danyel shouted “Wake up…..please wake up!” she shouted louder more tears rolling down her cheeks as she was suddenly lifted up and moved aside by a member of the medic team she flagged over as the rest checked Fox’s vitals preparing to move him with the gurney. She slowly began to calm down as she realized who had moved her away from her beloved and was now inspecting her injuries. It was a female medic and she moved with incredible speed and efficiency as she bandaged Danyel’s arms. “Don’t worry, we’ll do our best to make sure he lives.” The medic said as she finished with Danyel’s arms. Upon hearing that Danyel let out a sigh of relief and began her walk to the medi-chopper along side the medic. “You have a concussion but among that a lot of cuts and bruises but all of that will heal with some rest.” The medic said as she departed leaving Danyel on the medi-chopper ramp to go search for any other survivors. Danyel stepped inside and lay on an empty bed because she couldn’t see Fox due to him being quarantined and soon fell asleep. Dusk watched the medical team take Fox away as his team prepped and carried him to the same helicopter. He wanted to see what Fox’s status was and if Danyel knew anything about what happened but soon fell asleep  from the drugs he was given for pain.

Fox was immediately quarantined in the massive helicopter due to the severity of his injuries. As they had rushed him into the helicopter earlier the medical team responsible for him had already began treating him beginning with an intravenous loaded with antibiotics, painkillers and something to put him under and keep him like that along with a breathing device so they could work on fixing him up. The medical team began with the internal bleeding and many broken or fractured bones. Afterwards it was time to close him up and sew up all his cuts and gashes. Fox had quite the number of surgeries scheduled during the time between their departure to another location. The helicopter closed its massive door as lights flashed signaling it was preparing to take off as it began to vibrate while the huge propeller blades picked up speed and lifted the helicopter off the ground. Dusk awoke in a hospital bed, a vase of lilies on the nightstand to his right. He still didn’t remember what they were all doing before whatever destroyed the building they were in and that’s when he noticed the stack of files and a letter on the stand to his left which luckily was on wheels and easily movable. His ribs were bandaged and his left arm in a cast being held by a sling. He carefully leant over and reached for the stand on wheels just hooking it with his fingers and rolled it right beside him. Dusk grabbed the letter first. It was from the ever mysterious head department of the company he Fox, and Danyel worked for.
