Title: **Kentana**
Post by: Syphon on Mar 22 2005, 05:08 PM
So, here it is. I'll have chapter one up soon. Gotta revise it quite some first.

Prologue: His name is Zen

The space shuttle shattered through the atmosphere.  The wings began to disintegrate slowly, fire burning up the ship. The windows were solid red, all one hundred fifty passengers screaming in horror. The parachutes were completely torn and burnt. The passengers ran to the windows screaming and shouting. One passenger, a big hefty one, bashed the wall and created a small hole. More and more of the passengers rammed the door with beams and poles from the ship. Finishing up with two smashes, the wall opened up. As they jumped out, their doom came. Molten lava filled all around the ground where they landed.
A face stared through to window, a dark chuckle in its mouth. Straight up hair, black, with neon green stripes, the being took out a pistol. He loaded it slowly as his eyes darkened. A bullet shot and went through five passengers with much force. Laughing, he put the gun in a holster. The black wolf – like animal bashed the window and drew a massive sword. The blade of the sword was blue and looked almost like pure liquid energy. The hilt was disoriented and spooky looking. Green, rough, and demonic like, the hilt began glowing with dark energy. The wolf lifted his sword and sliced the humans, filled with joy. He jumped out of the ship as it exploded and began to walk on.
“You humans should stay on your own planet. You’re not meant for exploring the universe.” As these words spewed out, the wolf walked on.

*--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------*

“Mom, mom!” a silver creature ran to another, taller and more feminine, creature. “Mom it's today! Its today, it’s finally today!” The ‘wolf’ cheered on.
“Yes honey, today’s your birthday, Syphon. Tell Mommy how old you are.” The mother said to her son, smiling.
“This many!” The wolf held out seven fingers after counting them. “Seven.” He said, calming down.
The sun lit the surroundings. Bright and glamorous, hardly any dark areas were left. Moist dew covered all of the greenery. The straw, wood, and brick houses were filled with happiness. Ten miles from the center of the village, Lake Shenta, was a mountain range. The mountains fully surrounded the town and the lush forest that lead to it. Beyond the mountains, about two miles going north, was the city of Kentana. Kentana was the main port on Noir Te’em, along with Syphon’s best friend’s house being there.
A tall, lean, silver wolf walked over to the female one. The female, her son jumping and playing, was hanging clothes on a liner. She tilted her head and smiled as the father of the small boy walked over. He went to his son and patted him on the head. Syphon jumped into his fathers arms and then went down. The wolf looked around then pondered.
“Where’s Grandpa? When is he coming?”
“He’ll be here soon, with Grandmother.” The father answered calmly.
“But Grandpa said he’d take me to town! I wanna see Lance! He is my best friend!” The little wolf whined to his father.
“Don’t worry, he’ll be her…” quickly cut off by the arrival of two aged wolves, the father smiled.
“Well, it’s nice to see you Roko.” The father said to the aged man.
“Dad, were have you been?” The mother, Crystal, asked her father.
“We were just picking up Syphon’s birthday present. Here it is old boy!” Roko leaned over and handed the young wolf a small case. Syphon quickly tore open the velvet wrappings and ripped off the golden bow. As the grass began to warm from the sunlight, the pieces of paper fell onto the dirt patches. Still energetic, Syphon opened the case to see a strange sphere. Red in color, the inside had a strange symbol of a flame that kept moving, almost realistic to a real flame. The outer sides of the sphere shone colors, switching from white, blue, and a darker shade of blue.
“What is it Grandpa?” Syphon asked amazed at the sphere.
“It’s the orb of the village. You’ve come of age to have it. Take care of it.” The grandfather answered.
“I will, I promise!” Syphon yelled as he dropped the sphere into his pocket and walked onward.
“Well, I’ll let Grandma stay here. Why don’t we leave Syphon?” The elderly wolf lifted the young one onto his shoulders and began to walk towards the forest. “We’ll be back in a few hours Zish.” The older wolf called over to Syphon’s father as he soon disappeared beyond the trees.
“Grandpa, do you know Zenny is coming back for my birthday! Mom says so.” Syphon began to converse with his grandfather.
“Oh, is that so? So Shinzen is coming by. I can’t believe he is already 15. He’s been in the army for four years now.”
“I know, Mom tells me everyday. I think she misses him.”
“We all do. Though his fur did kind of stand out, he was meant to be the next elder. You know, I wasn’t always silver. I was once black.”
“I know, but you’re old! He-he-he.” Syphon teased.
“Hey, little snapper!” The bigger wolf grabbed Syphon and began to play with him, still walking forward.
Laughing, Syphon spewed out a few words. “Oh... Hahaha…. k….haha Gramps.”
   “So, you’re sorry?”
“Yes, I am.” Syphon put two fingers behind his back and crossed them before finishing his statement.
The sun was just hardly visible over the mountains. Daylight had broken just two hours ago. As the two wolves began through the forest, they calmly made their way through within three hours time. As the two began to scale the mountain, sweat dropped and fatigue came.
“Grandpa….I wanna see Lance! Let’s go faster!” Syphon tugged on Roko’s arm.
Still as energetic as ever, Syphon looked down the peak. His eyes widened as the advanced city of Kentana bustled below. A massive gate surrounded where the mountains let up, where several guards stood there waiting to approve newcomers. Syphon began to slowly slide down the mountain. At his young age, he was a pro at climbing and descending mountains from all his travels to visit Lance.
“Slow down Syphon!” The old grandfather called as he slid down also. “We still have five hours until your party! Besides, Lance’s parents said he could stay the night for you party.
“I know, but I want to go to all the stores!” Syphon cheered loudly as he waved out a small pack of gold coins. “Mom gave me money to buy some new presents. Let’s hurry, old man.” Going up to the gate, Syphon waited for his grandfather and began to speak with the guards.
“Hey Gem.” Syphon waved to the female guard.
“Oh, hi there little guy! Going to see Lance?”
“Yeah, Grandpa is taking me.” Syphon replied.
“Oh, Roko is with you? You guys don’t have to show us your papers, how often you come by!”
“Thanks Gem.” Roko said panting a little after making it down the mountain.
“Oh, before you leave. Here.” Gem leaned down and handed Syphon a box wrapped in a scarlet ribbon. The outer most wrapping was a goldish color. A note tipped out with the words, “To my favorite tourist.”
“Thank you Ms. Gem! I’ll open it as soon as I get home!” Syphon cheered as he pulled a bag out of his pocket. He unfolded the bag. As he finished a seven foot by three foot bag was held.
“It’s remarkable how he fits these things in his pockets.” Roko laughed as Syphon jabbed the box into the brown leathery bag.
The two wolves entered to city as the gates closed behind them. Hover cars, towering sky scrapers, and malls were spread throughout the city. A hover bike gang drove around cheering in the happy sunlight, chasing after a thief.
“Wow… a good biker gang. That’s a first.” Roko spoke as he walked over to a rental shop.
“So, what will it be Syphon? Your present for Grandma is a new hover bike, a motor powered one.”
“What? Yay!” Syphon bashed through the cycling door of the store and rolled into the ground. He looked around, his eyes reflecting with several mini hover bikes.
“OH. Which to pick?” As the now seven year old looked around, he picked the biggest bike ever.
“I want to save it until I can drive it! I want that one.” The small wolf jumped onto a metallic blue hover bike. It was double his size, with three thrusters. The steering was smooth and easy to use. The bike was powered by a Phazon Sphere, which were pretty rare, but go out once every fifty years. The air suspenders were chrome, the seat smooth black leather. The nose of the bike was shaped almost shark-like, pointed and aerodynamic. The center power thruster was guarded by an orange shield guard. The pedals were located a little farther back then normal, so that the driver can lean forward when on the bike.
“That sure is a beauty.” The elderly animal said as he called over a clerk. “Wrap this thing up, and send it to this address.” As Roko handed the salesman, a black bendarian, the letter, a few gold coins were wrapped in it. “Keep the change youngster.”
The two proceeded to exit the store. Syphon tugged on Roko’s sleeve arm tightly. “Let’s go get Lance! C’mon!”
“Not yet.” Roko said, “First we finish shopping.” With that said, the two walked on from store to store, mall to mall, and picked up whatever they could find. Within an hour the two had finished up shopping, Syphon’s bag filled to the top. The sun was glistening off the windows of the sky scrapers, a little bit past noon the second sun was already set. The first sin was on its way.
Syphon jumped up and down as he approached a house. The house was a brownish color, and was a normal suburban area house. Syphon rung the doorbell as Roko carried the sack of the wolf’s presents.
“Hello?” A tall bendarian female answered the door. She was draped in a long purple color dress. A clear veil spread around the entire skirt area. Her eyes were purple, the same shade as her dress. Syphon looked up and smiled.
“Hello Mrs. Mech. Is Lance home?”
“Why yes sweetie. I’ll be back in one second.”  As the tall brown colored-rabbit like being walked into her house, Syphon turned his head.
“Gramps how long before we get home?”
“A couple of hours, it’s easier to climb to mountain from this side then where Shenta is.” As soon as the aged wolf finished this sentence, another Bendarian walked out of the house. He was rubbing his eyes with his white sleeve. Big ears with stripes, a fox like tail, and claws on his small hands were shown. Solid black eyes loomed from the head of the being. A wet tiger-like nose on his face, he put his arms down level to his blue pants.
“Hey Syphon.” As the being spoke, he took out another box, but this one was different. It was shaped much differently then the other packages.
“Hi Lance!” Syphon snatched the box and shook it, then tossed it in his bag. “Ready to go?”
In a low groggy voice, Lance replied, “Yes…just let me grab my suitcase.” With those words said, his mother dropped the suitcase down. Lance picked it up and began walking. “See you later mom!”
The three set out towards the mountain range, Syphon and Lance reminiscing.
“So, then, I took my wooden sword” the eager wolf called proudly
“And…” Lance said, shaking his hand in a motion for Syphon to continue.
“And I stabbed him in the nose!”
   “Wow, a real dragon.”
   “Yes! It was cool!”
“Oh yeah, well. Once I shot a hydra with my gun!”
The two bickered the entire return home of who had a more dangerous adventure. By the time they had reached the edge of the forest the second sun began to set. Lance and Syphon had been ready to play fight when the party entered the town, both laughing and having the best of times with each other. Syphon ran through his door, ready to eat his cake. His eyes widened as he saw a being sitting down, strong, black, with green markings over his hair.
“ZENNY!” Syphon jumped into his brothers arms smiling.
“Whoa, cool down there big man.” Shinzen calmed down his brother. The black wolf wore a strange garment. A scarf fell down from his neck, white in color, while his arms were draped in a red coat. His legs as well wore the same shade of red, with a golden rim and outline. Zen’s shoes were black boots with the same red of the outfit over them.
Lance ran into the room and saw Syphon next to his brother, tugging his arm. Lance was taken back a bit by the strong young wolf, and spoke. “Why is he black and not silver?”
“Ha-ha.” Zen rubbed his hand over Lance’s head and began to tell why he was so dark in color. “Well, you see little Bendarian, I am to be the next heir of the village. The village chief is always black with the green markings like I myself have. It shows who is to be the next leader of our village.”
“Uh-huh.” Lance started to rub his head confused and walked back. “Well, Lance and I will play now.” Syphon ran out of the house, grabbing his wooden sword as he left.
“Ready?” Syphon held his sword as a young swordsman, smiling.
“Been ready, Syphon.” Lance drew out two small toy guys that were loaded, with oddly enough, sand. They short in wide spurts and actually had a lot of shock power to them. Syphon held his sword tightly. The wooden blade was carved smoothly and could slice through weak clothes with enough force. Syphon had been practicing to use his sword since he was five, to be like his brother Zen.
Syphon charged towards Lance holding his sword out. The alien leaned out of the way and held his gun. He clicked the small trigger and a burst of sand shot out towards Syphon, who ducked under the wave. Syphon swung his foot from under Lance and tripped him, holding his blade to the Bendarian’s throat. Lance held his gun at Syphon’s face too, leaving a draw. The two sat down and Syphon showed Lance around, also getting townsfolk to come to his party.
“So, Gramps, where is the sphere of the town?” Zen asked anxiously, tipping his chair back.
“Hmm? Oh, that thing? Your brother is holding it.”
“Syphon, but why? He isn’t meant to be the next elder.”
“Nobody knew when you’d return son. So, he is to hold it.”
“But, I need it…to kill the humans.”
“What? Kill the humans?” Roko looked at Zen for a second, and stared blankly.
“So….two months ago. It was you who destroyed the human ship! Wasn’t it?”
“Ha-ha, good guess old man. You are catching on. Don’t you know your own grandson by now? Neon stripes, black fur.”
   “But…why? They’ve never hurt you.”
“Not me directly, but my friends, our people!” Zen stood up and slammed the table. It rattled and he went on. “Look what they’ve done to the other side of the planet! They are making them use fossil fuels rather then the power spheres! They are brining us down to a lower level of technology.” Zen tossed a small sphere onto the table. It floated into the air, and the markings on it shot out rotating energy beams. Zen held his hand up, and the sky began to shroud with dark clouds.
“See, I only possess the power of the universe. Weather, air, gravity, and time manipulation. But the sphere of flame…it holds so much more.” Zen pushed Roko out onto the ground and looked at him deviously. The dark smirk of when he killed the humans struck his face. He looked at his grandpa, and raised his dark orb straight into the sky.
The clouds shrouded all at once, in big huge puffs. The sky was soon gray from the clouds, and yellow bolts of lighting struck the planet. Zen shot out more words staring at his grandfather.
“You old piece of garbage. Do you know how lucky you are that I don’t cripple you right this minute?” Zen held his hand out as black balls of static charged in his palm. His dark, demonic blade from before came into site.
“You have…the…..Demon Bane.” As the old wolf finish his statement, he fell unconscious.
Zen hovered in the air, using his sphere to lower the gravity below him. Zen searched around for his young brother, houses of the villages bursting into the flames from the shocks of lightning. As the young wolf and is Bendarian friend, stared into the sky, Syphon tightly held onto his satchel. His mother passed by quickly, and pushed both the boys down into the leaves of the forest, telling them to stay put.
Zen came to his mother, as she looked into the face of her son. “Why are you doing this?”
“To destroy the humans, what else? Mother, I’ll be back soon. I know you are hiding him, but you can’t hide him forever.” Zen finished these words, and faded away. Crystal fell to the ground, a tear dripping down her cheek.
