Title: Abandonware Games
Post by: DarkOnistar on Aug 07 2006, 06:10 AM
http://www.the-underdogs.info (http://www.the-underdogs.info)

That is the url for: Home of The Underdogs.
This site has all abandonware games (mostly from DOS)

It is a good site to get old games, but I recommend that you install a pop-up blocker or turn it on before entering because this site has a insane problem with pop-ups. I get a pop-up every page I click on.

Can't play the DOS games? But you always wanted to play it?! Well now you can, somebody has made a program called 'DOS BOX' and with it, it makes a DOS window in which you have to locate the game and then play.

To be onist you could use DOS Prompt, however you don't get the sound or Mouse to work because DOS has never seen these new things before, so this DOS BOX allows you to use these. With DOS BOX I have been able to play Syndicate Wars with Sound! with DOS Prompt or Windows I get no sound and the game is way way too fast! The only lame thing is that you've got to set up DOS BOX and know some DOS commands to play the game by locating it.

I've still gotta figure out the commands, since I get my brother to put the game on for me because I can never remember all the DOS commands :(

Anyway I hope this useful for some people.

Please reply and tell me what you think about it.. (nobody dis-old games, Syndicate and Syndicate Wars as still in the top 100 games this year. Syndicate came in 68!)

Edit (4/30/08): Fixed link.

Perhaps you could try something like "help", "-h" or "/help" to bring up a list. I'm not sure which one it'll be but I'm willing to bet it's one of them.

Sounds like an FPS problem. Do you think it could be possible to use something to limit the FPS?

I'm not really a fan of DOS games, I think I just haven't found one I like. But...

I totaly agree. If I remember corectly, Half-Life was in the top 100 untill Half-Life 2 came out. It may still be there but I haven't checkled. :)
